Biden needs a “victorious war” again, the Houthis are coming. “Guardian of Prosperity” or an adventure for Biden
It’s quite surprising to me why many people call the US strike “and its comrades” on Yemen unexpected, sudden, and so on. It feels like commentators and analysts are deliberately ignoring obvious facts. It is clear that you don’t want to connect military conflicts with geopolitics, but you shouldn’t forget about processes that theoretically go far from war, but fit into the logic of the development of events.
So, did the US-led coalition suddenly or deliberately strike Houthi military targets? It seems to me that both sides knew and understood perfectly well that such a strike was likely, and the question was not posed as “will it or won’t it,” but “when.” Therefore, the effectiveness of the strike was low.
Talk about the fact that 20 to 30 percent of the military infrastructure and means of attack has been damaged is a nod to the poor. A good destruction if, right during the bombing, the Americans received a “response” in the form of missiles, and an anti-ship missile fired at an American destroyer that used Tomahawks...
The reasons for the blows, in my opinion, are hidden much deeper than they try to convince us. Yes, the importance of the Red Sea from a logistics point of view is undeniable. And not so much as a short route from Asia to Europe, although this is also important, but as a route to supply resources to Israel, which has practically exhausted its offensive capabilities and is forced to withdraw several brigades to the rear at once for reorganization.
Washington, or rather President Biden, by and large does not care about Europe or Israel. And on all other “allies”. Now we are talking about power in the United States, about how to maintain power and prevent the Republican president from returning “to the throne.” In this case, many people in power today in the United States will face quite difficult times. Republicans are quite serious.
Alas, President Biden today looks in the eyes of Americans about the same as Zelensky in the eyes of Ukrainians. This is a failed president. A president under whom life has become more difficult. A president who wasted a lot of money for no reason. A president who has in many ways brought the image of “great America” “below the plinth.” Compared to Biden today, even Trump looks gorgeous, whose style of governing the state seemed monstrous just 4 years ago.
Democrats need a small, victorious war. This is the only way to somehow level out the failures that abound in the reign of President Biden and the reign of the Democratic Party as a whole.
Ukraine? Everything is clear there. “Small and victorious” obviously didn’t work out there.
North Korea? There was an attempt to “shout loudly” at the North Koreans. In response, they not only sent it to a known address, but also promised to “punch their ears.”
Taiwan? Smiling Comrade Xi quite openly showed the middle finger to Washington. So you won’t be able to win quickly on this island either.
That leaves Israel. But even there there are big problems with winning. The “exaggerated power” of the Israeli army was never able to overcome the not-so-powerful terrorist group. Israel has sunk to the banal destruction of ordinary Palestinians, to squeezing them out of their land.
Iran? Given the current balance of power, an attack on Iran threatens not just a major war, but also the loss of even those countries that are currently controlled by the United States. The same Iraq, for example.
Syria? There is a possibility of getting hit on the nose by Russia, Turkey and Iran. These countries do not have horror in their eyes at the sight of the formidable American tanks and armored vehicles...
So the Houthis are the most suitable target for a victorious war. Theoretically, the Americans could well win there in a traditional manner. Carpet bombing, destruction of populated areas and all other technologies proven in many countries. And, again, theoretically, there are also “hands” with which combat operations will be conducted.
So what's in Washington's playbook? American aircraft carriers with a swarm of aircraft. "Tomahawks" from destroyers. The US is destroying Houthi positions on the coast and helping the ground forces of the UAE and Saudi Arabia, which have agreed to support Operation Prosperity Guardian and destroy the Houthis on land.
At the same time, it is not the Americans who take control of the coast, but... the British. And London will do this with great pleasure. They understand perfectly well that after the failure of French and German diplomacy, after the devastation of the arsenals of these countries, it is Britain that can take a leading position in the region. London really wants to regain its influence on world politics.
This is what the Americans declare from the outside looking like assistance to global trade and the fight against global terrorism. And if we add here the fact that Washington and London are not at all interested in the opinion of some kind of UN or some other international institutions, then everything becomes obvious. And the place of the “world community”, and the place of the UN, and the place of the allies... There is a “china shop” and there is an “elephant”, which is not at all interested in the opinion of the owners of this very shop. His side itches...
A little about specific attacks and hopes of Washington
The Americans and British carried out two strikes on targets in Yemen. Just over 150 different types of ammunition were used. 28 objects were attacked. The results are extremely meager, no matter how the Western media tries to inflate them. The Houthis are also warriors; it is difficult to scare or deceive them. Most men have fought or have been fighting almost since childhood.
They understand perfectly well that stationary launchers will be destroyed by missile strikes first. Just like arsenals and fuel depots. That's why... they're not there! In the “civilized understanding” of this word. They are there, but they are not there. What enemy intelligence knows is only a small part. And launchers are generally installed on cars. As American analysts beautifully called them, “highly mobile launchers.”
Now the participants in the operation have become quiet. Not because there is no ammunition. They are waiting for the Houthis to react. Let me quote you from a press briefing last Friday. So, the Director of Operations of the Joint Staff of the Pentagon, US Army Lieutenant General J. Doug Sims:
Do you have any thoughts about the competence of analysts from the headquarters of the US Army?
I would understand such hopes of the American military if we were talking about once defeated countries or groups. But the Houthis, and especially Iran, were not defeated. On the contrary, they are winners. This is where psychology comes into play. Hence the almost immediate response from the Houthis:
(Mohammed Al-Buhaiti in an interview with the Hezbollah-affiliated Al-Mayadeen TV channel).
A little later, “details” appeared that could cool the ardor of the Americans. The press has published a list of targets that will be damaged or destroyed by the Houthis if the shelling continues. These are air bases in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, the headquarters of the 5th fleet in Bahrain, as well as bases in Iraq, Kuwait and Syria. The sprawling Camp Lemonnier, located in Djibouti, is just 80 miles across the Bab el-Mandab Strait from Yemen.
Indeed, there is something to think about. The same Camp Lemonnier is not just a base. This is practically a key facility where the Americans have been forming saboteur and reconnaissance detachments in Yemen for many years, where most operations and so on are developed. And suddenly a representative of the enemy clearly declares the secret base as the target of the attack... And some US bases have already been struck...
I think that the operation to unblock the Red Sea will not bring victory to the Americans. Even if every civilian ship is covered by an American or allied warship, this will not affect the willingness of logistics companies to take risks. Yes, and support, if there is any, costs serious money. It will be quite difficult to achieve success through military means.
Instead of conclusions
The world is moving ever closer to the precipice of world war. I have already written that most people have lost the fear of not only simple but also nuclear war. Why? I think because this very majority still hopes that the war will be somewhere out there, far away. It hopes that some countries will be able to remain neutral due to the competent work of the leadership or geographical location.
Alas, there will be no neutral countries. I will not remind you of the old saying about fighting lords. Ukrainians will tell you very well what happens to slaves in this case. The West is clearly overestimating its own strength and underestimating the strength of its opponents. The way the US and Britain behave in the situation with the Houthis is excellent proof of this fact.
The world is now fragmenting. The West is forming its own coalition without Russia. The East, on the contrary, includes Russia in its sphere of interests. This is a process that no longer even depends on the wishes of peoples or governments. The United States gathers around itself those who consider themselves to be “civilized peoples.” Those who are accustomed to living at the expense of other nations.
What should Africans do, who have been robbed for centuries? What should the Asians do, who for centuries have been considered and are still considered the “industrial zone” of civilization? What should all those who have contained and continue to contain “parasites” do?
They are historically forced to “flock” to fight parasites. That's the whole process. Some want to keep the feeders, others are tired of it and want to use the feeders themselves.
But there is still hope that in the heat of the election battle one of the candidates will not start waving an atomic baton. Nuclear weapon It is dangerous not so much by the number of deaths after its use, but by the inability to return to normal life. It is impossible to rebuild cities again. It is impossible to start growing grain in the fields again. It is impossible to bask on the beaches and so on.
And for everyone. And for homeless vagabonds, and for those who call themselves the “golden billion”...
