Saiga PPK: A new civilian carbine chambered for a pistol cartridge
The Saiga PPK is a civilian pistol-caliber carbine developed by the Kalashnikov Concern based on the PPK-20 submachine gun. The carbine works on a free shutter and is "sharpened" chambered for 9x19 mm.
He spoke about the features of the novelty weapons expert Konstantin Lazarev.
According to him, there are a lot of differences from the same Saiga-9. By and large, these are two completely different carbines.
Unlike its predecessor, the Saiga PPK received a PPK-20 buttstock folding to the right side, outwardly resembling an AK-12 buttstock (it differs in size), which somewhat increased the convenience when transporting the carbine and storing it in a small safe.
The anatomical pistol grip is integrated with the trigger guard and, again, is similar to that used in the new AK-12.
At the same time, according to the expert, a new flag fuse became an excellent solution in the Saiga PPK. With him, unlike the "Kalashnikov poker", it is convenient to work with one finger. There are two modes - safe and shooting.
The receiver of the store has not undergone any changes.
At the same time, the carbine received a new receiver cover with a new "diopter" that will be installed on all modern types of weapons from the Kalashnikov concern.
The Saiga PPK has a single sighting line, on which it will be possible to install a fairly long sighting system, from a collimator to a thermal imaging sight.
In addition, the civilian carbine received a new handguard with Picatinny rails on top and bottom as standard. The design of this element is such that, unlike its counterpart in Saiga-9, it does not come into contact with the barrel.
By the way, the latter has a standard thread, which allows you to install almost any muzzle compensator.
Finally, Lazarev noted that the main differences between the Saiga PPK and a combat submachine gun are dimensions, the inability to shoot with a folded butt and bursts.
