“Germany poses a threat to arms exports”: the French press thought about selling a promising NGF fighter

Given the close cooperation of the German military-industrial complex with manufacturers from other European countries, this may also affect the profits of the French military industry.
- says the publication Air & Cosmos.
As noted, German legislation regarding the export of military equipment is extremely strict, and each sale is subject to rigorous scrutiny. Buying countries must not, in particular, violate human rights and the weapon should not contribute to the aggravation of crises [apparently, Ukraine, pumped up with weapons, is a “pleasant exception” for Berlin].
- indicated in the publication.
So, in 2018, the Parliament blocked the supply of weapons to countries involved in the conflict in Yemen. Among them was Saudi Arabia, which wanted to buy 72 Eurofighters. More recently, Riyadh was exploring the possibility of buying 48 aircraft of the same model, but the German Greens announced their opposition, although a ceasefire has been relatively observed in Yemen since 2022.
- explained in the publication.
According to the author, the constant export control by the FRG can turn into a "shock" for the project of a promising fighter, in which it is planned to invest a lot of money and time.
- a conclusion is made in the publication.
