Recall that the issue of the need to arm the territorial defense was updated after the sabotage raids of Ukrainian formations on the territory of the Bryansk and Belgorod regions. After that, the authorities of the regions, politicians and public figures spoke about the importance of having armed territorial defense units in the border areas of the country, which could help the army, the FSB, the National Guard and the police in carrying out the tasks of protecting the border, important infrastructure, public order, in the fight against sabotage groups of the enemy.

Now, in a number of border regions of Russia, territorial defense units have already been formed. In the Belgorod region, their number is estimated, according to open sources, at least three thousand people.
