NATO seeks to complicate the combat situation on Russian borders as much as possible. NATO intends to fight the active role in the Black Sea of ​​the Russian fleet by mass mining of the water area. In the event of an aggravation of the situation, 5 minesweepers built in the 1980s, which are in service with the Romanian Navy, should perform this task. Actually mines should be taken from the available arsenals, however, given their condition, they need to be repaired.

In this regard, the Ministry of Defense of Romania is consistently carrying out work to restore the combat readiness of mines.

The Romanian Navy is conducting a large-scale campaign to repair and extend the life of naval mines of the MMMCA-1 type. The first orders were made in 2022, after the start of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict
