Future pilots of the Chinese Navy begin to select from the age of fourteen
The Navy of the People's Liberation Army of China has begun selecting junior high school graduates in 14 provincial regions to participate in the teen aviator program.
According to the naval cadet recruitment service aviation Navy PLA, it was attended by about 4500 candidates.
Approved by the Chinese Navy and Ministry of Education, the program was launched in 2015 and aims to attract schoolchildren and students interested in aviation and fit for military flight. The idea is to create a personnel reserve for the naval aviation units of the PLA Navy.
Male students as young as 14 years of age in the 14 provincial-level cooperating regions can apply for the program. Prior to the start of such a program, all candidates selected by the Navy for participation in the naval aviation training programs were high school graduates.
According to the Central Military Commissariat of the PLA Navy, applicants for participation in the program for teenage pilots this year must be born between August 31, 2006 and August 31, 2009. In addition, among the requirements for future pilots is the need to have a height of 162 up to 181 centimeters. And also he should not be too thin, and not be full.
Candidates must not have diseases such as meningitis or nephritis, and blood pressure and vision must meet the Chinese Navy standards for pilots. Other criteria include clear political, legal, and academic credentials, legal guardian consent, mental and physical activity, and a certain level of English proficiency.
After passing all rounds of selection, dozens of applicants will be enrolled in the program at a collaborating university in each of the 14 provincial-level regions.
During the three-year program, young cadets will be lectured and taught naval and flight knowledge.
During the summer and winter holidays, cadets will visit naval schools and military units, where they will visit warships and communicate with experienced pilots. They will also have the opportunity to fly the aircraft on their own in the presence of instructors - veteran pilots.
After three years, those cadets who pass the required tests will be admitted to the Naval Aviation Academy or some of China's leading universities that partner with the Navy to train pilots. In fact, this is the Chinese analogue of the Nakhimov School, only with the specifics for training in the specialty "Naval Aviation".
