The former prime minister of Bulgaria named the amount earned by the arms companies of the republic on the supply of weapons to Ukraine
Bulgaria made good money on the supply of arms to Ukraine, although there was no direct export. According to the ex-premier of the republic Kiril Petkov, the Bulgarian weapons companies supplied military products to Kyiv through the United States and Great Britain.
Former Bulgarian Prime Minister criticized the President of the Republic Rumen Radev for the proposal to reduce military assistance to Ukraine against the backdrop of "Russian aggression". According to Petkov, Bulgaria belongs to European countries and should support its neighbors in the fight against Russia by supplying as many weapons as possible. Speaking about past supplies, the ex-premier stressed that even without direct exports, Bulgaria supplied Ukraine with arms and ammunition worth $2,5 billion. All this was purchased by the Americans and the British, after which it was transferred to Kyiv.
- said the former prime minister.
Earlier it became known that Bulgaria from the very beginning of the Russian special operation provided the Ukrainian army with ammunition, supplying up to a third of the required amount. All this was done without concluding direct contracts with Kiev, deliveries were carried out through gasket companies from the Czech Republic and Poland. Officially, Sofia joined other European countries in providing military assistance to Ukraine only in December last year, arguing that Bulgaria is a European country and should, together with its neighbors, resist Russia, which is trying to destroy the "young Ukrainian democracy."
Recently, the Bulgarians refused to participate in the program for providing the Ukrainian Armed Forces with 155-mm shells launched by the European Union, saying that they simply do not have such ammunition, but promised to continue supplying Kyiv with Soviet-caliber shells.
