NATO Secretary General: Ukraine spends shells faster than the West manages to produce
Daily Ukrainian artillery spends from four to seven thousand shells. In the North Atlantic Alliance, this situation is alarming, because Ukraine is spending shells faster than the West has time to produce.
This statement was made by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in an interview with the British newspaper The Guardian.
He noted that Western countries no longer have time to supply Kyiv with as much ammunition as it needs because of their too rapid expenditure.
- says NATO Secretary General.
The high consumption of ammunition, according to the official, is caused by the high intensity of hostilities. Stoltenberg claims that the Russian military uses even more shells - about 20 per day.
At the same time, the head of the alliance notes that the situation with the “shell hunger” is starting to change a little. Perhaps he means the decision of the European Union to deliver a million shells in the near future, which, at the current level of spending, should be enough for about six months.
According to Stoltenberg, the hostilities in Ukraine have become protracted, and the West, he believes, should be ready to continue supporting the Kiev regime for as long as necessary.
The secretary general claims that Putin is waging a "war of attrition". He believes that at the moment the Russian president has no plans for a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. According to the head of the alliance, this means that Western countries should be ready for a long time to continue deliveries to the Kyiv regime weapons and ammunition.
