US Secretary of State refuses to heed China's statement on "red lines" on arms sales to Taiwan
The US will not take into account China's claims that the sale weapons Taiwan will become a "red line" in Sino-US relations. This was stated by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
Earlier, Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang warned the United States that interference in the country's internal affairs, including the future of the island of Taiwan, is the first "red line" in relations between the two states. These relations could fall to a new low, Beijing said.
The Chinese Foreign Minister made his statement amid yet another aggravation of Sino-US relations. Blinken, in turn, touched upon the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Moscow.
According to the US Secretary of State, China currently does not provide significant military assistance to Russia. However, Blinken noted the strengthening of Beijing's diplomatic support for Moscow, as evidenced, in his opinion, by the visit of the Chinese leader to the Russian capital.
At the same time, Blinken noted that China's diplomatic and material support for Russia is at odds with US aspirations. Earlier in the US and Western Europe, concerns were expressed about the possible start of supplies of ammunition from China to Russia.
But with its daring policy towards Taiwan, the US authorities only bring the likelihood of such a development closer. The more attention the United States pays to Taiwan by supplying it with weapons, the more grounds China will have for rapprochement with Russia in military-technical and military-political relations, and many American analysts have previously warned the White House about this.
