Biden requested a telephone conversation with the Chinese President, trying to find out about the topics of his talks in the Kremlin
US administration officials confirm media reports that US President Joe Biden has requested a telephone conversation with Xi Jinping. Moreover, the request was formulated in such a way that Biden expects the opportunity to have a telephone conversation with the Chinese President immediately after the meeting of the Chinese leader with the Russian President in the Kremlin ends today. And this meeting has been going on for more than three hours - behind closed doors.
The Chinese delegation, responding to the request of the American side, emphasizes that the Chinese leader is "ready for dialogue if it fits into his work schedule." Thus, the Chinese delegation made it clear that no telephone conversations with Biden would fit into Xi Jinping's schedule in the near future for the simple reason that the Chinese President is making a state visit to Russia.
The “ordinary American guys”, acting in their own style, clearly expected to receive answers from Xi Jinping about what exactly he discussed during his meeting with Vladimir Putin today and what he is going to discuss in the coming days of the visit.
At the same time, the Joe Biden administration does not hide their anxiety about the fact that a large Chinese delegation has arrived in Moscow, which includes, among others, the Minister of Defense of the PRC. This fact immediately gave rise to conspiracy theories in the United States that China and Russia "may begin to discuss military supplies to the Russian Federation." The Chinese Foreign Ministry once again stated that China is not a party to the Ukrainian conflict weapons, unlike the US, does not deliver. Beijing also called on Washington to refrain from further arms supplies to Taiwan, recalling that Washington had previously signed a convention with Beijing on the unacceptability of the militarization of the island of Taiwan.
