Taiwan tests cruise missile capable of reaching central mainland China

Taiwan continues to prepare for a confrontation with mainland China, as Beijing does not intend to retreat from its statements about the indivisibility of China. Taipei will urgently arm itself, not only buying American, mainly weaponbut also developing their own. According to the South China Morning Post, a new extended-range cruise missile has been tested on the island.
Taiwan's Zhongshan Institute of Science and Technology has tested a new cruise missile capable of reaching major cities in mainland China. The declared range of the new modification of the Hsiung Feng IIE missile (Xiongfeng 2E - "Strong Wind") is 1200 km, which is quite enough to strike cities on the coast and even inland in the event of hostilities.
The new missile is capable of reaching major cities on the mainland, such as Qingdao on the east coast or Wuhan in central China.

Details of the tests are not given, it is only emphasized that they were successful. The tested surface-to-surface cruise missile is an extended-range modification of the Hsiung Feng IIE anti-ship missile. Taiwanese Navy ships are armed with Hsiung Feng II and Hsiung Feng III anti-ship missiles with a range of 160 and 130 km, respectively.
The Hsiung Feng IIE cruise missile has been developed since 2001 by the Zhongshan Institute of Science and Technology, the head research institute of the Armaments Bureau of the Taiwan Ministry of National Defense. From open sources it is known that a rocket weighing 1 ton has a warhead of 200 kg. Control system - inertial + GPS receiver, subsonic rocket, speed - Mach 0,85. Claimed accuracy - ± 12 meters.
