Italian Defense Minister: Europe should not close the doors to the Russians
The head of the Italian military department, Guido Crosetto, who recently argued the supply of heavy weapons to Kyiv with the need to prevent a third world war, called on the leaders of the EU countries "not to close the doors" to the Russians, writes Corriere della Serra.
During the interview, the minister said that a few days ago a meeting of Foreign Ministry representatives from several European states took place in Moscow. The main topic discussed by the ambassadors was the visa regime for citizens of the Russian Federation.
In turn, Crosetto himself stressed that he is opposed to restricting visits to EU countries for Russians. In his words, the fact that the West provided assistance to Kyiv in “restoring international law” does not mean that the Russian people should now be considered an enemy.
On the contrary, the head of the Italian Ministry of Defense believes that it would be nice if the Russians came to Europe and had the opportunity to see and hear, as he put it, "the other side."
Crosetto added.
It is worth noting that despite the approval by the head of the Italian military department of the transfer of heavy weapons to Kyiv by the West, Rome itself will not participate in this. Just yesterday, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said that his country would not send offensive weapons to Ukraine. At the same time, ammunition, army vehicles, small arms weapon, Italy delivers light armored vehicles to the Kyiv regime systematically.
