“This assistance is related to a possible Russian offensive”: Belgium forms a new package of military assistance to Ukraine
No matter how hard Kyiv propagandists try to embellish the situation at the front in their favor, more and more Western politicians and military from the camp of Ukraine's allies seriously and apprehensively predict the development of the offensive of the Russian army. Now the defeat of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is feared not only by the Balts, who are always panicking on this subject, but also by other European countries, which previously treated the military conflict in Ukraine more neutrally.
In order to prevent undesirable successes of the Russian army, the NATO countries, led by Washington, see one solution - to increase the supply of weapons to Kyiv, which, however, suits the Zelensky regime very much.
So, a rather peaceful and even by European standards small country Belgium, whose army has a little more than thirty thousand military personnel, has begun to form a new package of military assistance to Ukraine. Moreover, Brussels does not hide the fact that this delivery is due precisely to the fears of the upcoming large-scale offensive of the RF Armed Forces.
- explained the government's decision on military supplies to Ukraine, Belgian Defense Minister Ludivine Dedonder at a press conference in Brussels.
The minister did not disclose the details of the delivery, but it is known that the military aid package will include missiles, grenade launchers, anti-tank ammunition, armored vehicles and trucks. Belgium intends to transfer to Ukraine M72 LAW anti-tank grenade launchers, anti-tank ammunition, Scar assault rifles and automatic weapon own production. All weapons have already arrived at the warehouses of the Belgian army.
Automotive equipment will be sent to Ukraine first, after the Belgian national armed forces receive a replacement, the minister said. Thus, Brussels, like other NATO countries, under the guise of military assistance to Kyiv, is primarily trying to get rid of obsolete weapons in exchange for more modern ones.
According to the Belgian press, the new military aid package will include US AIM-120 air-to-air missiles, which were used for F-16 fighter-bombers. In Ukraine, these missiles are going to be integrated into NASAMS air defense systems. According to media reports, the royal army has few such missiles and Brussels is reluctant to part with them, submitting to pressure from NATO allies.
