TsNIItochmash supplied the Ministry of Defense with the largest batch of 9X21 mm pistol cartridges in recent years
The Central Research Institute of Precision Engineering has completed a contract for the supply of 9X21 mm caliber cartridges with a lead core to the Ministry of Defense. All products have already been shipped and received by the customer. This was reported by the press service of the concern "Kalashnikov".
TsNIItochmash handed over to the military a batch of pistol cartridges of 9X21 mm caliber, thereby fully fulfilling the contract for the supply of cartridges of this caliber. The number of transferred ammunition is not reported, but the company notes that this is the largest batch of ammunition of this type produced in recent years.
As the press service of the Kalashnikov concern explained, the cartridge with a lead-core bullet under the index 7N28 is designed to defeat enemy manpower not protected by personal protective equipment. The cartridge was developed at TsNIItochmash in the second half of the 90s for use by the entire line weapons of this caliber, including for all modifications of the SR-1 "Gyurza" pistol and the SR-2 "Veresk" submachine gun. A bullet with a lead core in a bimetallic sheath has a low ricochet ability.
The Serdyukov self-loading pistol (SPS or SR-1 "Gyurza") was developed at TsNIItochmash for special units of law enforcement agencies. Adopted by the FSB and FSO in 1996. It has several modifications, the last one is the SR1MP pistol with the possibility of installing various devices, including a silencer.
The SR-2M "Veresk" submachine gun was developed at TsNIITochmash and was first shown to the public in 1999. It was created as a weapon capable of hitting an enemy in personal armor protection of the second class at a distance of up to 200 m and unarmored vehicles at a distance of up to 100 m. silencer.
