Elon Musk Reveals Part of Documents Related to Twitter Censorship and Hiding Biden Jr's Laptop Story
Elon Musk, having become the owner of Twitter * and the social network of the same name, immediately began to carry out organizational reforms and change the internal policy of moderating and publishing content. In addition to restoring hundreds of previously blocked accounts, clearly for ideological reasons, Musk promised not only to fight straightforward and biased censorship, but also announced the publication of details about the silence stories Hunter Biden on Twitter.
In fact, Musk decided not to limit himself to revealing scandalous facts related to the secret life and undercover dealings of the son of the current US president. The day before, he posted on his profile a link to internal documents of the social network, which were published by journalist Matt Taibbi, shortly captioning the tweet: "Let's go!" Musk emphasized that particularly scandalous facts were double-checked for fact-checking before publication.
Taibbi published several posts at once, entitled "Twitter X-Files" (Twitter files). They, among other things, contain information about the story with the laptop of the son of the US President, the contents of which were previously written by the American press, but then the story was quickly hushed up. We are talking about the tax fraud of Biden Jr. and providing them with false information about their drug addiction when buying weapons.
In addition, Taibbi exposed the censorship that was carried out by the administration of the social network mainly in favor of the US Democratic Party in general and, at first, the candidate, and then President Joe Biden in particular. The journalist published screenshots of internal correspondence between managers of the social network, one of which sends a series of links to posts, accompanied by a signature:
The response email states that the content has been "processed". This most likely means that the texts of the posts did not pass the check and were deleted. The correspondence is dated October 24, 2020, right at the height of the presidential election campaign.
The journalist explained that after such checks by third-party PR services, not only individual publications could be deleted, but users, including well-known politicians and celebrities, could be banned for life.
It was such a campaign to peruse and clean up content on the social network that was carried out after the New York Post published an article in October 2020 about secret emails received from Hunter Biden’s laptop, forgotten in the repair. Then, at the behest of curators from Biden Sr., the administration of the social network "took extraordinary measures to hide (this) story," the journalist reports.
In particular, the social network removed links to scandalous material, posted warnings about their "unsafety" and blocked their transmission directly through private messages. The removal of the story was explained by the fact that it violated the policy regarding "hacked materials". Moreover, Taibbi notes, according to the company's rules, blocking direct messages between users is intended only for exceptional cases that directly violate the law or go beyond ethical standards.
The journalist said that content checks by Twitter* managers were carried out not only at the request of Joe Biden's campaign headquarters, some publications were also removed after complaints or pressure from the Republican Donald Trump team. But the Democrats had many more ways to complain and get results, Taibbi said.
