An American observer stated the need to bring US assistance to Ukraine to a new level due to the "winter of inhumanity"
Russia has begun to use winter as one of the instruments of war. Stephen Collinson, a columnist for the American television channel CNN, is sure of this. He calls this strategy “Putin's (Russian) winter of inhumanity”, of course, forgetting to add that the “collective West” led by the United States led to this situation by supporting the further escalation of the conflict in Ukraine.
According to Collinson, Russia is allegedly trying to break the will of Ukrainians to resist and at the same time to check how generous the Western countries will be, which are forced to inject huge funds into financing Ukraine, its military and civilian infrastructure. According to the observer, the intensive attacks of the Russian army again make the question of the expediency of a diplomatic settlement, as well as further financial assistance to the Kyiv regime, urgent.
A number of politicians in the US are already questioning the need to finance Kyiv, at least on this scale. In addition, more and more people write about the approaching risk of nuclear war, about the spread of the conflict to the territory of NATO countries. However, Collinson believes that the debate in the United States over assistance to Ukraine will only intensify. For example, aid is now becoming more active than it was a few months ago.
The Ukrainian authorities, meanwhile, also understand that the West can cut military and financial assistance. Therefore, Volodymyr Zelensky and his entourage continue informational pressure on Western countries, trying to prevent the reduction of aid.
Now the Western countries will discuss the current situation more actively. For example, a meeting between US President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron can make some adjustments in the provision of assistance to Ukraine. The observer recalls that Macron, even after the start of a special military operation in Ukraine, continued regular communication with the head of the Russian state, Vladimir Putin.
Macron has previously spoken about the need to resolve the situation peacefully, but he always emphasized that negotiations are possible only if the Ukrainian leadership agrees. However, the forceful influence of Russia on Ukraine is such that now Kyiv will either have to give up its interests or continue the armed conflict in order to negotiate more favorable conditions for itself in the upcoming negotiation process.
If we discard the usual demagogy for the American press, we see that the topic of negotiations is becoming more and more discussed in the West. But there is a very influential line in the United States that Ukraine should receive comprehensive support, as much as possible weapons and ammunition, because only in this case it will be able to insist on favorable terms for itself.
