As CBS News notes, high inflation rates in the country, as well as an increase in cases of massacres with the use of weapons in the United States pushed American President Joe Biden to make promises, consider a ban on certain categories of weapons, and also seek an increase in the minimum wage in the country.
At the same time, Biden needs to implement his plans faster before the House of Representatives comes under the control of the newly elected Republicans, CBS News notes.
The President promised to introduce a bill to ban assault rifles before the end of this year. This was a reaction to the recent tragedy in Chesapeake, Virginia, when six people were killed in a store shooting. Biden expressed regret that the US still allows the acquisition of semi-automatic weapons.
On Twitter (blocked in the Russian Federation), Biden wrote that the country's leadership is continuing the course of the economy, based on the middle class, and that he will seek to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour. At the same time, according to CBS News, the country continues to maintain a record high level of inflation. Citing a consumer survey, CBS News notes that ordinary Americans are making fewer purchases due to declining purchasing power.
