October 11, we are with the commander tank Alexander Roshka visited the training center of the special forces "Mercury" [p. Zhornovka, Smolensk region] at the qualification test of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the right to wear a maroon beret.
In 1977, the first special forces unit of the internal troops was created. With 1978, the krapovy beret is adopted as a uniform headdress. Tests for the right to carry it are held from 1988 year (with 1993 - officially).
Tests are performed 2 once a year: in spring and autumn. Soldiers who have served in special forces for at least 12 months and have been pre-selected in their military units are allowed to test.
All the instructors in the tests themselves are "spotters".
The first stage is a forced march. Distance - 12 km. At a distance, participants overcome debris, water obstacles, work out tactical introductory. The march, fiery assault strip, fire and high-altitude training, participants are in combat gear with a total weight of over 20 kg. All stages of the test are performed without interruption, one after the other.

The second stage is overcoming obstacles of the fiery assault strip. Participants overcame obstacles by triples, gradually moving from object to object.

After passing the fiery assault line, the fighters demonstrate readiness weapons to fight. They must charge the blank cartridge issued to them at the start and take a shot. If the shot does not occur, then the candidate is removed from the distance.

Fire training. For 20 seconds, the participant had to hit the target “terrorist” from the machine gun, while not hitting the “hostage”.

High altitude training. The dealer must descend from the fifth floor window, make a queue at the fourth window, knock a dummy in the second floor window and throw a grenade out the window, then unfasten the karabiner on the ground and run the G-8 on the instructor’s table or slap his hand on the table. The exercise takes 15 seconds. Allowed errors in the performance or not met in the allotted time are removed from the test.

Acrobatics and a set of special exercises. Participants perform 3 acrobatic elements [lifting with a bend from a supine position; kick with a silhouette followed by a roll; somersault with acrobatic springboard] and complexes of special exercises [with arms and without weapons]

And finally hand to hand combat. Applicants must survive in 2 fights minutes without a break. The fights were divided into 4 rounds of 3 minutes, in which the handlers fought among themselves and with the instructors.

And the instructors, who have just so strongly opposed the candidates, are sincerely happy for those who have stood the test.

20. The presentation of the berets took place with the general construction of the test participants. Those honored with the right to wear a krapovoi beret got up on the right knee, kissed the beret and, getting up and putting it on, said: "I serve the Fatherland and special forces!" Then they were congratulated by the other "raps".

The colonel of the special forces of the explosives, who has carried out the candidates from the very start of the tests, straightens a brand-new maroon beret on his head.

As a result of testing in October, 11 out of more than a hundred applicants of the right to wear a keeper beret were awarded 8 special forces. Currently, about 500 "krapovikov" serve in the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
