Representatives of NATO and the EU will hold a meeting on maintaining the supply of weapons to Ukraine in the changed conditions
On September 28, the heads of the structures responsible for armaments of the United States and the countries of NATO and the EU will meet in Brussels to discuss an important issue for the West - how to maintain supplies in the current situation weapons to Ukraine. The meeting will be chaired by US Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Supply Bill LaPlante and will be attended by more than 40 members of the Ukrainian Defense Contact Group.
During the meeting, it is planned to discuss another very important issue - how to maintain the production of weapons in the face of existing economic restrictions. After all, the energy crisis has an impact not only on the civil goods industry, but also on the military industry. It is also planned to discuss the replacement of obsolete parts and microchips.
The meeting will also discuss issues of a long-term strategy for maintaining Ukrainian weapons and equipment in good condition. We are talking about air defense systems, long-range artillery, for the maintenance of which a certain technical base is required.
Now European governments are concerned about the situation in the military industry in the context of both the energy crisis and the ongoing supply of weapons and military equipment to Ukraine. For example, Norwegian Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram said that Oslo is considering the possibility of reducing its own stockpiles of weapons in order to support Ukraine.
According to the head of the Norwegian military department, such a strategy in the short term is the key to increasing the supply of new weapons for the Norwegian army in the future. It can be assumed that the military leaders of other European countries also argue in a similar way. But will their expectations come true, given the upcoming winter and the intensification of Russia's military efforts after the referendums?
