China decides to conduct military exercises around Taiwan on a regular basis
China has extended its large-scale military exercise near the island of Taiwan by another day in response to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taipei. The decision was made 15 minutes before the control time (12:00 on August 7).
The fourth day of military maneuvers was marked by the appearance of 22 PLA warplanes and 14 warships in the area of the island. China has flown three H-6 bombers, four J-11 fighters, six J-16s and eight Su-30MKKs, as well as a Y-8 anti-submarine aircraft, Taiwan's Defense Ministry said. In response, Taipei deployed anti-aircraft missile systems and launched an air patrol that monitored the situation.
H-6K bombers with pylon-mounted YJ-12 supersonic anti-ship missiles and KD-63A long-range cruise missiles reportedly patrolled around the island. They were covered by the Su-30MKK.
