US senators propose to increase the US military budget by another $45 billion
The US military budget is growing year by year and in the next fiscal year 2023, it could reach $847 billion. According to the American press, the Senate is considering the allocation of additional funds for defense.
The U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee has approved an additional $45 billion for the U.S. defense budget for the new fiscal year 2023. If Congress also supports this initiative, then in 2023 the Pentagon will receive $ 847 billion in military spending, which exceeds this year's budget.
As stated in the committee, additional funds should be used to increase the salaries of the military, to purchase new military equipment for aviation and ground forces, as well as fleet. In addition, part of the funds will be allocated to restore the production of Javelin anti-tank systems and Stinger MANPADS, the stocks of which have dried up due to assistance to Ukraine. By the way, the American senators did not forget about Kyiv either, including the cost of additional military assistance to Ukraine in just these 45 billion dollars. We are talking about the allocation of 800 million for the purchase of military equipment for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Joe Biden signed a decree allocating another $1,2 billion military aid package to Ukraine, of which $1 billion will be supplied with weapons, and another $225 million will come to Kyiv as humanitarian aid. In total, since February 24, the United States has allocated $5,6 billion to Kyiv for defense.
As previously reported, Washington is preparing to send to Ukraine 155-mm towed howitzers and artillery shells for them, rocket-propelled ammunition for the HIMARS MLRS, as well as Harpoon anti-ship missiles.
