Pilot killed in US Navy F/A-18E/F Super Hornet crash

A US Navy official release said an F/A-18E/F Super Hornet fighter jet crashed last Friday in the vicinity of Trona, 230 miles southeast of Naval Air Station Lemur. As a result of the crash, the pilot died, there were no other casualties or damage. The military department said that the name of the pilot will be made public within 24 hours after his relatives are informed about his death.
The incident occurred at 14:30 local time (00:30 Moscow time). Firefighters are at the crash site and the cause of the crash is under investigation.
Aviation Naval Base Lemoore (NAS Lemoore) is located in Kings and Fresno counties, California. This is the newest and largest US Air Force base, commissioned in 1961.
