In the Moscow region, a new division of the S-400 air defense system from the Dmitrovsky anti-aircraft missile regiment of the VKS air defense unit took up combat duty. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.
The division arrived in the Moscow region at the end of December last year from the Kapustin Yar training ground in the Astrakhan region, where equipment was tested before being transferred to the military. Arriving at the place of deployment, the anti-aircraft gunners prepared the S-400 air defense systems and positions for them to perform the tasks for their intended purpose. The ceremony of taking up combat duty took place on Friday, January 28, 2022.

It is noted that at present Moscow and the Central Industrial Region are covered by five regiments of the S-400 Triumph air defense system, as well as other anti-aircraft systems. In the near future, the latest S-500 Prometheus anti-aircraft system will be added to them.
SAM S-400 "Triumph" is designed to destroy strategic and tactical aircraft aviation, ballistic missiles, hypersonic targets and other means of air attack in the conditions of electronic and other types of counteraction.
