According to preliminary data, the attacker was eliminated during a special operation of the police special forces. According to other information, he could have shot himself.
From local sources:
The man entered the lecture hall in Neuenhamer Felde at approximately 12:35 local time. He fired a pistol. He carried the pistol in his jacket pocket, without arousing suspicion among the guards. Then it became known about his death outside the walls of the university.
An investigation is underway. The question regarding whether the attacker had something to do with the University of Heidelberg or not is being investigated. The actions of the protection of the university are also being studied. The issue of possible accomplices of the criminal is also being considered.
