Hypersonic drone and ammunition for the destruction of electronic devices: China sums up the results of the year in the field of arms development
The end of December, according to the good old tradition, is the time to take stock. It is worth noting here that not only our country has achieved tangible success in 2021.
Summing up the results of the year in the development of weapons, China spoke about their achievements in one of the most attractive areas today - the development of a hypersonic weapons.
So, an engineer from the PRC Sun Zheng, together with his colleagues, proposed the concept of a hypersonic ammunition capable of moving at a speed of Mach 6 and hitting targets at a distance of 3000 km. This is comparable to the distance from the east coast of China to American Guam.
At the same time, the "highlight" of the aforementioned ammunition is that it does not carry a nuclear charge, but a special chemical explosive, upon detonation of which a powerful electromagnetic pulse is generated that can "burn" key enemy electronic devices within a radius of 2 km. Electronics are destroyed in seconds.
The warhead will detonate over the target area without physically damaging ground infrastructure, resulting in no loss of life. At the same time, intercepting such a munition will become an extremely difficult task, since it flies within the earth's atmosphere, remaining invisible to space-based early detection systems, and uses active stealth technology.
By the way about the "invisible". Another Chinese promising development in the field of hypersound is the latest drone. In May of this year, the PRC announced that a new installation, capable of simulating flight at an incredible speed of 30 times the speed of sound, will be ready “soon”. Potentially, such a UAV could be used against American stealth aircraft such as the F-22 and F-35, depriving the United States of air superiority.
In addition, it is worth recalling that earlier it was reported about the tests of the Celestial hypersonic missile, capable of carrying a nuclear warhead, and which allegedly flew around the entire globe before gliding to the target.
Among other promising developments this year, Chinese military experts noted an artificial intelligence-based system capable of effectively tracking unidentified flying objects in China's airspace.
