Lithuanian Defense Minister handed over another consignment of military aid to Ukraine
Lithuania continues to supply the Ukrainian army with personal protective equipment. Another batch of body armor and tactical belts arrived in Ukraine together with the Minister of Defense of Lithuania Arvydas Anushauskas.
The Lithuanian minister personally brought to Ukraine the long-awaited cargo, which was expected in the Ukrainian Armed Forces back in September. It was at that time that Vilnius announced the provision of "military assistance" to Kiev, announcing the imminent transfer of body armor and tactical belts to the Ukrainian military. At the same time, it was announced that the Armed Forces of Ukraine would receive 490 body armor and the same number of belts worth 677 thousand euros. But, as the Lithuanian authorities emphasized, the Ukrainian military will receive all this completely free of charge.
Anushauskas announced the transfer of military property on his Twitter page, noting that this is the first part of military aid to Ukraine from Lithuania. When the second comes and what it will include, there is no information yet. The Ministry of National Defense of Lithuania stressed that they are providing assistance to Ukraine at the request of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
By the way, this is the second batch of personal protective equipment donated by Lithuania to Ukraine this year. The first consisted of about 700 body armor, it was transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine by July 1.
The Lithuanian Minister of Defense did not forget to visit the Lithuanian military instructors who train the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to him, Lithuania is helping to train the Ukrainian military according to "Western standards", and the goal of this is "a sovereign, free and stable Ukraine."
Note that Lithuania was the first to start providing military assistance to Ukraine in 2014. Vilnius has repeatedly supplied the APU with small arms weapon and ammunition of Soviet calibers removed from the armament of the Lithuanian army after joining NATO and the transition to Western standards. In addition, Lithuania receives on its territory the Ukrainian military for rehabilitation, and the Lithuanian military instructors conduct training for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
