Western analysts have announced a noticeable drop in sales of Russian arms

57

Last year, Russian manufacturers weapons and military equipment sold their products for 26,4 billion USD. This is 6,5% less than a year earlier, when arms were sold for 28,2 billion.

Such data were published by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).

Western analysts have noted a noticeable drop in Russian arms sales, and this has been observed for three years in a row. This year, the decline in sales volumes was one of the most rapid among other major global manufacturers. It is assumed that among the main reasons for this was the completion of the ten-year state armaments program in 2020, as well as the surge in the incidence of COVID-19, which slowed down supplies.

The SIPRI survey covers 100 of the world's largest arms companies, of which nine are located in the Russian Federation. According to SIPRI, the Almaz-Antey concern showed the largest drop among the enterprises of the Russian defense industry, the sales of which decreased by 31%. On the other hand, the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) posted 16 percent growth.

In the spring of this year, SIPRI published a report on the military spending of the countries of the world, which increased by 2,6 percent last year, reaching a total of almost two trillion dollars. According to this indicator, according to the analysts of the above-mentioned institute, the Russian Federation took the fourth place in the world after the USA, China and India.

The official Russian report on arms exports for the current year is expected in early 2022. It will be possible to compare with the indicators named by SIPRI.

        What does it have to do with it? Forget this mantra already. What has been touched upon? What exactly ended? This fall was predicted 8 years ago. Have you heard about the plateau? When does deceleration begin after a sharp jump? It was inevitable. Plus sanctions. Plus competition from under the stick.

        So the US sanctions on those who buy Russian weapons are not a factor?

        One of the factors.
        US sanctions did not prevent NATO member Turkey from buying air defense systems from us.
        And India refused to jointly develop the Su-57 not because of sanctions, but due to the long development time and low performance.

        Again, do not forget that competitors are growing - the same China with its JF-17 successfully competes with the MiG-35.

        As for military budgets, this is a secret of secrets.
        There are direct and indirect costs.
        For example, the USSR Ministry of General Engineering was engaged in both space and military missiles.
        Although the money went like "space".
        I think that today there are many such examples.

      here you go in just one week of December "western world" interrupted the annual sales of ROE:
      United Arab Emirates signed a contract for the purchase of 80 Rafale fighters
      On December 3, 2021, the French company Dassault Aviation, United Arab Emirates signed a "historic" contract for the purchase of 80 French Dassault Rafale multi-role fighters in the F4 modification. The contract was signed during a visit to the UAE by French President Emmanuel Macron, in the presence of Macron himself and the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

      The signed package of contracts also includes the purchase of 12 Airbus Helicopters H225M Caracal multipurpose helicopters by the UAE. The total value of the package contract for Rafale planes and helicopters is reported to be around 17 billion euros.

      Austria signs a contract for the purchase of 18 Italian AW169 helicopters
      On December 2, 2021, in Rome, Austrian Defense Ministers Claudia Tanner and Italian Defense Ministers Lorenzo Guerini signed an intergovernmental agreement on the acquisition of 18 new AW169 multipurpose helicopters manufactured by Leonardo Helicopters (a division of the Italian company Leonardo) for the Austrian armed forces. The purchase will be carried out as part of a joint procedure for the acquisition of helicopters of this type with the Italian Ministry of Defense through the Aircraft and Arms Purchase Directorate, which is part of the latter.

      Its cost has not yet been reported, but will be from 300 to 400 million euros, together with technical support and personnel training. Of the 18 helicopters, six will be made in the training (actually standard commercial) version of the AW169B, and the remaining 12 - in the special military version AW169MA with the ability to carry weapons.

      Switzerland signed an agreement on the acquisition of American F-35A fighters and Patriot air defense systems

      According to Armasuisse, the final agreed contract the purchase price was 6,035 billion Swiss francs for the F-35A aircraft and 1,987 billion Swiss francs for the Patriot systems, the exchange rate was adopted at 0,95 Swiss francs per US dollar.
      According to the value of the agreement for the purchase of F-35A aircraft, the following breakdown is given:
      • 3,828 billion Swiss francs for 36 F-35A;
      • 1,927 billion Swiss francs for a logistics package including ground equipment, spare parts, documentation, training and technical support from the manufacturer;
      • 107 million Swiss francs for ammunition;
      • 86 million Swiss francs for training, mission planning and evaluation systems;
      • CHF 82 million to cover potential technical risks: F-35As are being procured in the same configuration as other countries and the manufacturer will manufacture the aircraft using the same standards and procedures used for ghjbpdjlcndf over 3000 aircraft. This means that the risk premium is expected to be low compared to other procurement projects;
      • CHF 5 million to account for the expected inflation rate. Inflation only affects the direct subcontracting part of the transaction in Switzerland, that is, RUAG.

      Plus a mega-contract with the finals in progress:
      The Finnish Defense Forces selected the fifth-generation American Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II fighter in the HX tender for a promising fighter to replace the Boeing F / A-18C / D Hornet fighters in the Finnish Air Force. The Finnish Defense Ministry supports the choice of the F-35A.

      As part of the tender for the NH program, it is planned to purchase for Finnish Air Force 64 new fighters to replace the 62 currently in service with the F / A-18C / D Hornet. The delivery of new fighters is planned for 2025-2030. Requirements for the HX program include a total procurement budget of no more than € 10 billion.

    The decline can be explained by the fact that Russia has loaded the military-industrial complex with modern types of weapons, which are still too early to be sold abroad. Type S-500, hypersonic weapons, etc., which others do not yet have. And the amount of "obsolete" that can be sold is decreasing.

        The main problem is the exhaustion of countries for a wide range of supplies. That is, the level of Algeria, Iraq, Egypt, India, China, etc.

        That is, if earlier it was possible to enter with something, gain a foothold in the appendage to the conventional Su-30, sell S-300, 636 boats, T-90, Msta, Pantsiri, etc. But now basically we have to interrupt single contracts. Well, Western partners are also awake - Kuwait signed the T-90M, the Americans colorfully painted how Kuwait would be an outcast country, and the money of local sheikhs would leave them, so Kuwait instantly changed his mind. Also Indonesia - they signed the Su-35, the Americans recalled that they would hit with sanctions so that palm oil would have to be drained into the ocean, but at the moment they changed their minds, they already signed a contract with Italy for democratic Eurofighters.

          Then it makes no sense to criticize the practice of "donating" weapons - it is enough to deliver a small "trial batch" to opponents, and now the choice for the next aviation buyers will be much more painful and difficult: which is better - sanctions or anti-aircraft complexes from the enemy? .. I mean a gift in the form of anti-aircraft weapons as a counterweight to foreign fighters; anti-ship missiles - to foreign ships. If you can't sell, then be generous and give it to those who will undoubtedly benefit from this gift. The main mistake in such a business is that they give to potential buyers and give them to their insolvent but passionate opponents.
