US ignored Tokyo's request and continued F-16 flights after fuel tank incident
The US military, ignoring Tokyo's requests, continues to operate its F-16 fighters in Japan, despite the fact that the country's Ministry of Defense has recommended an end to flights.
A corresponding request was sent to the American side after on Tuesday an F-16 aircraft, taking off from the US Air Force Misawa AFB, inadvertently dropped two fuel tanks and was then forced to make an emergency landing. One of the tanks fell in a residential area, although initially the American command tried to deny this.
Against the background of the United States ignoring Tokyo's requests, the country's military department intends to re-ask the American side to suspend flights of its fighters - at least until the reasons for the technical failure are clarified and the safety of the F-16 operation is confirmed.
According to the Minister of Defense of Japan, incidents of this kind cause concern among local residents. However, the United States did not provide any clarification and on Thursday resumed flights from Misawa, which, as the governor of the prefecture explained, "upset the population and possibly increased mistrust of the US military in general."
But, apparently, the American military has its own vision of the situation. Moreover, the incident did not occur on the territory of the United States, but in a once occupied country, where the United States continues to behave like a business. Although ... why there is no time ... In fact, Japan is still occupied now.
In general, accidents with the American aviation in Japan occur regularly. Given the country's dense population, they pose additional risks to civilians.
