Ukraine has brought American acoustic generators of non-lethal impact to the border with Belarus
Ukraine has taken measures to combat illegal migrants who can break into Ukrainian territory from Belarus by fitting American-made LRAD acoustic installations to the border. Acoustic wave generators are installed on armored vehicles.
Kiev decided to cover the border with Belarus with LRAD-1000 (Long Range Acoustic Device) acoustic generators installed on the Kozak-2 and Novator armored vehicles of the National Guard. It is claimed to be non-lethal. weapon, developed by the American company "American Technology Corporation" in 2000 to protect surface ships and vessels from attacks by terrorists and pirates, copes well with the crowd, acting on them with a low-frequency sound of high power up to 150 dB. For comparison, the sound level of a jet plane is 120 dB, the pain threshold is 125 dB, and the lethal threshold is 175 dB, so the generator has a very harsh effect on the human hearing organs.
The installation operates at a distance of up to 500 meters, the angle of attack is 30 degrees, when approaching closer than 15 meters, a critical damage to the hearing organs occurs.
It is emphasized that the American police have experience in using such installations, which have repeatedly used generators to disperse demonstrations. In Ukraine, the installations have not yet been applied in practice, but were noticed during the exercises of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Volyn. However, experience of use may appear in the case of using the LRAD-1000 against migrants at the border.
It is emphasized that the units of the National Guard of Ukraine are located near the Belarusian border in five regions of Ukraine, but it is not entirely clear where exactly these installations are located and how many LRAD-1000 acoustic generators are in service with the National Guard.
