President Putin on the American ship in the Black Sea: "We can look at it not only through binoculars, but also through the scope"
In Sochi, the head of state is meeting with representatives of defense industry enterprises, as well as with senior officials of the country's Defense Ministry. Among the issues discussed are the development of the defense component, rearmament of the army and fleet.
In the context of this topic, an issue was raised related to the entry of another US Navy ship into the waters of the Black Sea. We are talking about the flagship warship USS Mount Whitney, which was sent to the Black Sea basin to "coordinate with the Allied fleets during the exercise." Part of the fleets of the US allies will be engaged in operations in the Mediterranean. Noteworthy is the fact that USS Mount Whitney is already the second American ship that has been sent to the Black Sea in recent days. Prior to that, the missile-armed destroyer USS Porter entered the Black Sea.
Vladimir Putin commented on the US naval activity in the region, which is many thousands of nautical miles from the United States itself.
According to the President of Russia, everyone who gathered at the meeting in Sochi knows very well that another US Navy warship has entered the Black Sea. Opening the meeting, Vladimir Putin said that "today we can look at this ship not only through binoculars, but also through the sight of defensive systems."
President Putin pointed out that the United States has well-known plans for deploying medium-range missiles in Europe. This, as the head of state noted, poses a serious danger to Russia.
Recall that earlier in the Black Sea, the British destroyer HMS Defender arranged a provocation. He violated the maritime borders of the Russian Federation in the Crimea region, passing through the water area closed by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. With his statement about the American ship, Vladimir Putin actually warned him against repeating the Defender provocation. Recall that then, after repeated "verbal" warnings from the British crew, the Coast Guard ship opened warning fire, which was intended to show this crew that its actions could end badly for the destroyer. Also, at the rate of the British destroyer in Russian waters, the Su-24M dropped aviation Bombs.
For obvious reasons, the Russian Black Sea Fleet is currently monitoring the situation with the activity of American warships in the Black Sea area and is ready to suppress any provocative attempts.
