The ongoing events in Afghanistan and the rise to power of the Taliban * (the movement is banned in Russia as a terrorist movement) forced the Ministry of Defense to seriously undertake the rearmament and re-equipment of Russian military bases located near the Afghan border. Following the supply of new weapons, the turn came to the upgrade of communication systems.

Russian military bases in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan will receive new modern communication systems that will allow the exchange of digital information and maintain secure communications even in mountainous areas. The Ministry of Defense has already agreed on a schedule for the delivery of new equipment

The 201st military base in Tajikistan will receive the first update of communication systems; the supply of equipment and systems is planned to be completed by the end of this year. It is emphasized that the base will completely update the communication systems, i.e. In addition to the communications battalion, other units will also receive new equipment. The re-equipment of the Kant airbase is planned for next year, where new communication systems will be added to ground equipment and radio stations, providing information exchange with aviation.

As reported "News" With reference to military sources, both bases will be supplied with new command and staff vehicles, satellite and radio relay stations, as well as hardware. According to available data, the military will receive R-441LM satellite communication stations and R-419LM1 radio relay stations, P-243 complex hardware communications, and R-149MA command and staff vehicles.

There would be no happiness, but the Taliban (still banned in the Russian Federation) helped.

It is unclear why all the troops have not yet been re-equipped for new communications, if such equipment is already being produced?
This is akin to saving on the supply of radios in 1940.
Saved a penny - lost tens of thousands of lives.

I will tell you in more detail, based on the image, with the presence of ASh-4 (up to 25 km) and a deployed SDA (up to 150 km), the communication range (in the mountains) is unlikely to exceed 100-150 km. That satellite equipment looks different.

The cost of some "apparatus", per unit, is such that it is possible to equip half of a communications company with old equipment ...

If there is a new technique available, then it must be supplied to the troops and not wait for it to also wear out while in storage.

The technique goes straight from the factories, to the storage bases it is still oh how far
