The US Congress will look for new ways to limit the export of Russian arms
The sanctions imposed by the United States against Russia failed to significantly limit the export of Russian weapons, many countries continue to purchase weapons and equipment manufactured in Russia. This fact greatly worries Washington, writes RT.
The US Congress invited American parliamentarians to consider the issue of further limiting the export of Russian arms and come up with some way to do this, since the sanctions are no longer working. And the growth of Russian exports is hurting the pockets of American corporations promoting their interests in the world arms market.
According to a report released by the Congressional Research Service, Russia allegedly uses military exports to advance "its interests" and "undermine US influence."
Despite the sanctions imposed on Russian companies, Russia continues to be one of the largest exporters of weapons and military equipment on the world market. In this regard, Washington hopes to find a way to make Russian weapons "less attractive" and isolate Russia. At the same time, it is emphasized that this must be done carefully so as not to harm the United States itself.
American analysts say that through the sale of its weapons, Russia confirms "aggressive and malicious activity", promotes the outbreak of military conflicts and provokes regional instability. But according to military experts who are closely familiar with the global arms market, the United States is simply afraid of competition, since Russian weapons are distinguished by their reliability, functionality, simplicity and low price compared to American ones.
