Kazakhstan is ready to adopt a new multipurpose armored vehicle "Barys 8x8"
The Kazakhstani Defense Ministry is ready to adopt the Barys 8x8 multipurpose armored vehicle, state tests of the equipment have been completed. This was reported on the website of the State Defense Order Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Barys 8x8 wheeled combat vehicle (BKM) was tested for four years. The Kazakstan Paramount Engineering company, created jointly with the South African company Paramount Group, presented this armored vehicle back in 2017. At the same time, the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan began testing BMV.
"Barys" 8x8 is designed specifically for the Kazakh army, positioned as a multipurpose armored vehicle equipped with advanced technologies, capable of performing the functions of both an armored personnel carrier and an infantry fighting vehicle. The declared characteristics: length - 8 m, width - 2,8 m, height on the roof - 2,4 m. Combat weight, depending on the configuration - up to 28 tons. Max. speed - 100 km / h, cruising range - 500 km. Crew - 2-3 people, landing - 8 people.
Reservation provides protection against small arms weapons, fragments and mines. The declared level is level 3 STANAG 4569. The bottom is flat, but provides protection at level 4B (up to 10 kg in TNT equivalent), energy-absorbing chairs are installed.
A remotely controlled combat module Ansar, developed in Kazakhstan, is installed as a weapon. The module is equipped with a 2 mm 72A30 automatic cannon, a PKT 7,62 mm coaxial machine gun, and smoke grenades. Provided for the installation of ATGM.
BKM "Barys" 8x8 is fully ready for adoption, the decision is for the Kazakh Ministry of Defense.
