Estonia buys Israeli Blue Spear anti-ship missiles

Estonia purchases Israeli Blue Spear anti-ship missiles (5G SSM). The supply agreement was signed on October 6, 2021. This is reported by the Estonian Ministry of Defense.

The State Defense Investment Center of the Estonian Ministry of Defense and the Israeli-Singaporean company Proteus Advanced Systems Pte. Ltd. signed a contract for the supply of the Estonian Armed Forces with Blue Spear (5G SSM) anti-ship missiles to equip promising coastal missile systems. Israeli anti-ship missiles won the Estonian tender, beating Sweden with Saab RBS-15 Mk 3 + / 4, USA with Harpoon Block II and Norway with Kongsberg NSM.

According to the bmpd blog, the Blue Spear anti-ship missile is actually a new Israeli Gabriel 5 anti-ship missile developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), only sold under the Proteus Advanced Systems brand.

The initial contract price will be $ 46,3 million, but further expansion is expected. Deliveries will begin after 2026. In fact, a coastal mobile anti-ship complex based on the Gabriel 5 / Blue Spear missile does not yet exist, it will be developed specifically for Estonia.

In a press release from Proteus Advanced Systems, it is noted that the Blue Spear anti-ship missile system is a high-precision weaponscapable of striking over-the-horizon, moving and stationary targets in any weather and time of day. The maximum firing range is 290 km. The missile uses an active radar homing head, "precise navigation and reliable communications." It is emphasized that the Blue Spear anti-ship missile system is immune to electronic warfare systems.

Judging by the distant 2026 and current events in Eurasia, there is a high probability that Israel or Estonia will not overcome this time line.

There is intelligence from the Estonian intelligence that some third parties are preparing to take Estonia on board from the Baltic Sea. I do not have more detailed data. the informant interrupted the telephone conversation with me out of fear of persecution. I know for sure that we are not talking about Somali pirates, but just guesswork.

The manufacturer of these anti-ship missiles (IAI) also produces the Spyder air defense system. And now they are working on the development of a universal UVP, based on and replacing the Spyder-mr \ er PU. Which will be able to launch everything that fits into the launch container: missiles, anti-ship missiles, CD, ATGM NLOS, BR and so on.
The system will be modular, interfaced with any radar with a suitable interface system (or using an adapter).

An electronic warfare system is built into the missile's seeker.
Including building a "false image" of a missile for the enemy's missile defense.
Such a system is built into many Israeli precision munitions.
For this reason, the Shell in Syria could not shoot down gliding bombs flying at it.
There was a very characteristic video taken from the GOS.
Shells missiles flew towards them without exploding.

It is doubtful that some kind of electronic warfare in the GOS confused the shell missiles. Its missiles are semi-active, guided by radar, if I'm not mistaken. How could a missile, miniature in power, electronic warfare, drown out or shoot down the radar signal of a shell, the power of which is thousands of times greater? In my opinion, everything is more prosaic, anti-aircraft missiles stupidly did not enter the trajectory, if I may say so, because of too small a distance. Discovered late. An indirect confirmation of this, this is a new modification of the shell with a more powerful radar.

Naturally, this was done from another flying vehicle, the power needed is small, the interference must be compared with the power of the receiving signal, not the emitting one.

Not to "drown out", but to deceive, creating false targets, as is done by systems such as ADM-141 TALD or ADM-160 MALD to provoke air defense positions for the consumption of missiles.

And why should they? They would have avoided their blockade. By the way, about the blockade. If the USSR had not started the unprovoked bombing of Helsinki a few days after the German attack on the USSR, then the Finns would hardly have begun hostilities against the USSR and the blockade of Leningrad would most likely have been avoided.
Well, when they were bombed, the Finns had no choice but to start hostilities against the USSR. At the same time, the ultimate goal of these actions was to recapture the territory of Finland conquered by the USSR in 1939. When the goal was achieved, the Finns stopped and did not go further, although Hitler seriously put pressure on them.

On September 12, 1940, an agreement was signed in Helsinki on the transit of German troops through Finnish territory.
On September 21, 1940, the first German transports with troops and weapons arrived at the Finnish port of Vaasa on the coast of the Gulf of Bothnia.

After several meetings of representatives of Germany and Finland, on May 25-28, 1941 in Salzburg and Zossen in the presence of the Chief of the General Staff of the Finnish Army, General Erik Heinrichs, the chief of the operations department, Colonel Kust Tapol and three more representatives of the Finnish Armed Forces, on the one hand, and Field Marshal Keitel, generals Jodl and Halder on the German side, there was a final agreement on plans for joint operations, the timing of mobilization and the start of the offensive.
The Finnish troops had to go into action 14 days after the start of the German invasion - as evidenced by Franz Halder, a participant in these events. (That is, if you count from June 22, then July 6.)

          - On June 5, 1941, Mannerheim had a conversation with General Talvela, who was assigned to command the VI Corps, where Mannerheim was tasked with advancing in the Leningrad direction. In his memoirs, Talvela writes:
“The Marshal announced to me when I arrived at him that Germany would one of these days launch an attack on the Soviet Union ... that the Germans did not ask us for anything else but to strike a powerful blow in the direction of Leningrad. He announced the creation of a special group to carry out this strike and asked me to command it, asking if I wish it. I got up with lightning speed from my chair and said: "Yes, this is the greatest moment in my life."

Yes, they threw me a lot of cons. But I did not expect another reaction from the "defenders of historical truth", and the disadvantages are such a familiar thing.
But here is a slightly different opinion than that of Alexander Solonin. Namely, the opinion of his namesake Mark Solonin https://history.wikireading.ru/4502.
Of course, there will be a lot of people who will foaming at the mouth to prove that M. Solonin is not an "official historian" like the respected Alexei Isaev, which means there is zero faith in him.
            Well, it's like someone.
For example, I completely agree with many of his judgments on the Great Patriotic War, including on the relations between the USSR and Finland during the Winter 1939 and during the Great Patriotic War. Moreover, many times I had the opportunity to discuss these issues with the participants in those events.

The rocket is very serious. The fact that she bypassed the Saab RBS-15 Mk 3 + / 4 in the competition, the USA with Harpoon Block II and Norway with Kongsberg NSM speaks volumes.
In addition, the missile has a multispectral active radar seeker, which makes it very resistant to the effects of electronic warfare systems. And if we add that the Israelis, apparently, used Australian experience in the development of missiles - Nulka traps, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9j66ZvGGErQ, which provide the formation of a false / virtual image of the target aside from the true goal, the assertion that this anti-ship missile will be a tough nut to crack for shipborne air defense / missile defense systems is not groundless.
Well, the fact that this RCC was chosen by the Finns, in spite of the similar Swedish and Norwegian RCC, also speaks volumes. The Finns are tight-fisted guys, their defense budget is not the largest in Scandinavia and therefore they try to spend their money with feeling, sense and consistency. Well, Estonia is trying to measure its decisions in terms of defense as far as possible with Finland.

At least one intelligible comment or a set of humor due to the fact that the mind is not enough to write a smart comment. This is how you need to write a comment briefly, intelligibly and with analysis and not shine with your sparkling humor.

Naturally. On the flight path, the missiles are placed in advance on the water with 5G GSM telecommunication towers and the rocket flies from tower to tower, periodically calling them and learning the latest gossip about the location of enemy ships. Well, the last tower is set already on the target ship so that the poor anti-ship missile does not miss.

I know. Therefore, the British also bought this rocket under a different name. And don't forget Rafael's Sea Breaker. There is a combined IR-optoelectronic guidance in the image of the target. The missile's memory is loaded with silhouettes-images of naval targets. Well, there is the aircraft carrier Ford, Arleigh Burke, for example. As in the case of NSM, you can choose to hit a specific point on the target.

That is, if this division is allowed. Indeed, in order to conduct a successful airborne operation, it is necessary to ensure complete air supremacy on the flight route of transport workers and over the landing area of the paratroopers. But whether it will be possible to ensure such domination is a big question.
