US to deploy new versions of SM-3 Block IIA interceptors on 11 ships in the Pacific and off the coast of Europe

It became known that new versions of interceptor missiles will be transferred to the US Navy. This was stated by the Deputy Chief of the United States Department of Defense Kathleen Hicks.
We are talking about the Aegis SM-3 Block IIA interceptor missiles, the final tests of which were carried out last fall. These interceptors performed a successful ballistic missile interception over the Pacific Ocean during launches from the battleship John Finn. This is a US Navy destroyer that entered service in July 2017. It is based in San Diego.
An interceptor missile intercepted a missile fired from Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands.
The Pentagon said that tests of the latest SM-3 Block IIA interceptor missiles showed that "there is every opportunity to intercept missiles that can be fired from North Korea at US Navy facilities in the Pacific Ocean." Kathleen Hicks, informing congressmen about plans to re-equip the naval forces, said that the priority is to place the SM-3 Block IIA on 11 ships that operate in the Pacific Ocean and off the coast of Europe.
At the Pentagon:
Weapon sea-based new modification is capable of intercepting intercontinental ballistic missiles on the distant approaches to the US borders.
This was noticed in the Japanese media. Thus, The Japan Times indicates that the armament of US Navy ships with new anti-missiles "becomes the first initiative of the Joe Biden administration to develop a missile defense system." This is taking place against the background of news that the process of arming a missile defense facility has begun in Redzikovo, Poland. In fact, these are the links of the same chain.
