Iran unveils new Kaman-22 heavy attack drone

Iran continues to create shock drones, expanding the range of adopted drones. Iranian Air Force Commander Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzade said that Iranian engineers have completed work on a new Kaman-22 strike UAV.

The general stressed that the heavy wide-body drone was designed and developed in accordance with the requirements of the country's air force. The new UAV is designed for air strikes and reconnaissance. A line of "smart" ammunition has been developed for it, as well as various optical and electronic equipment.

It is specified that Kaman-22 has a flight range of 3 thousand kilometers and can stay in the air for up to 24 hours. In addition, he is capable of carrying weapons weighing up to 300 kg.

The Iranian Air Force Commander stressed that the new drone is able to significantly enhance the combat capability of the Iranian army.

Military experts note that the Iranian novelty is a copy of the American attack UAV MQ-9 Reaper. The UAV is assembled using American technology, to which Tehran has gained access. It is too early to judge the capabilities of the new drone, since its detailed performance characteristics are not disclosed.

For our part, we note that Iran, despite the sanctions and weapons embargo, managed to reach a fairly solid position among the world leaders in the production of drones.

Do they have an electronic component from China?

      Maybe. Why not?
They copied, adjusted the board or chip at their discretion, sent it online, paid for the gerber file to the factory and received the finished product. What's wrong with that?
Where physically, with such a scheme of work, electronics are produced, on a drum.
      ...
It's simple with electronics, not just with the engine, it's easy not to repeat the dviglo. The properties of the materials used play an important role in the engine.

        With electronics, it's easy

But China will impose an embargo on its chips, just like the Americans do, and the final comedy.

The main problem of the Russian space and military is the lack of an element base. Chinese microcircuits do not help.

The answer suggests itself - China and the Russian Federation .... besides them, no one has technologies that are not controlled by the West. But the Iranians do a lot of things themselves on the basis of the fallen UAVs of Israel and the United States. By the way, Iran produces copies of the ATGM TOU-2 and Kornet .... respectively, a lot of what ammunition can make itself.

In fact, a lot is being pulled from the west. In the days of the USSR, it was impossible to block all supply channels, especially in the modern world. The same Rotax engines are freely sold on the market, it is not a problem to purchase them. Moreover, for a UAV, a lot of them are not needed, hundreds a year are enough.

You can attract .... but it will be difficult to talk about serial production. On the other hand, the internal combustion engine can be made in Iran as well. For cars, they make turbo engines 1,5 l - 150 hp ......

Take the GUGL cards. We select the function to plot the route Iran - Israel. It turns out from 1500 to 2000 kilometers. Let's start in azimuth. We put an electronic map of Israel in the head of the UAV. When approaching, we compare and go to the point of defeat. there we compare again. (if we reach). Easier and faster with a rocket, preferably a hundred at once.)

      Why "wide body"?

Outstripped. Everything can be assumed and guessed. But I can't understand what "wide-body" means. How wider is it than the same MQ-9, how many passengers are in the row, or maybe it is thick-bodied? Sometimes you need to re-read what you write.

Iran shows a lot, I still won't forget their "5th generation fighter", where the pilot could not fit in the cockpit normally, their photoshop fakes with missiles. Showing layouts does not mean that they are live instances. I do not think that the level of development of the Iranian economy will allow it to produce engines, electronics and other components. Moreover, the range of action is 3000 km. As Stanislavsky said - I DO NOT BELIEVE!

Their current flagship, Shahed 129, also has 3500 km of range (but there is no astrochannel, that is, these 3500 are roaring). And they also have 4 missile bombs. However, this is not a mock-up, but a serial UAV tested in real battles.

They invest in ways to get around the sanctions. Need an engine - Rotax 912/14 of course! To release at home? What for! You can even buy it on Ali. In general, through all sorts of friendly front companies, they buy up to a hundred annually (according to Trump and his attempts to cut off the supply of engines, by the way, it is impossible to shut off the engine, which is produced in thousands and is shipped to private customers for MA). Brains - friendly China will help. The optical station itself seems to have assembled (well, on Chinese elements), well, it is immediately evident, on the vidos and photos there are the quality of tears from the eyes.

And if everything is so simple, then why are the Russian engine APD-110/120 being tortured for Orion, why can't they finish it? We would have used Rotax further, anyway it is unlikely that it would be better than Rotax.

          26 February 2021 14: 15
Well, so a lot of problems arise:
          - And if Rotax is found how to ban it?
          - How to promote for export? The contraband engine is the first thing the customer will ask about.
          - Maintenance, repair, certification again, release scaling, etc.

Orion can be made today by 40-50 cars a year on Rotax machines. There is no problem in the engine. There are other problems there + the desire of the Ministry of Defense to ask if something is wrong with the Russian manufacturer + the desire of ROE to go with him to exhibitions, while the topic is hype.

Well, in general, deploying your own clone or the Chinese version is definitely better for the future. Again, from here you can conduct your own modernization, scaling up to customer requirements, and this will also become the basis for new types of engines.

Well, yes, that's right. Of course, a whole line of drones needs their own engine. And if it also impresses with its low cost, then maybe small aircraft will also be of interest. But all the same, if for the future, then the future of light UAVs is for electricity. As soon as the capacity / mass ratio of the battery allows, all ICEs will die out immediately. Lithium batteries add 10-15% per unit weight every year.

As the kerosene depletes, the weight of the aircraft decreases, the consumption of the same kerosene decreases, and the range increases. The mass of the battery will always be the same throughout the entire flight, over time its capacity will decrease, and accordingly the flight range of the aircraft will be reduced, and then it will have to be replaced altogether.

Even with slightly worse characteristics, electro has such advantages. The device is cheaper, the flight is cheaper, the service is cheaper ... and most importantly, for a military UAV, it is electrically quieter and is almost invisible in the infrared range compared to a hot internal combustion engine.

      Iran shows a lot

Not so long ago, we read about the Bavar-373 air defense missile system. Among the capabilities of this system are high mobility, a large volume of fire, the ability to interact with various targets (air and missile), a large range and height, the probability of a correct collision and thrust, correct opposing electronic warfare, local and simple maintenance, operations under attack conditions (chemical, microbial and nuclear), and the ability to cope with electromagnetic attacks, operations in different weather conditions, the ability to cope with modern world goals
      09.07.2020,
Bashar al-Assad received the Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Mohammad Bagheri, who is on a visit to Damascus. He said that "Iran will strengthen the Syrian air defense systems," making it clear that the Russian air defense is not fulfilling the tasks they expected. And modern advanced air defense systems will make it possible to repel Israeli strikes on Syrian territory.
Of what was reported during this period by unknown aircraft, 20 strikes were made at the facilities of the IRGC, including the T-4 base where the Bavar-373 complex was, according to foreign press reports, it was destroyed.

          This is understandable.
Therefore, on the evening of Sunday, February 14, in the Israel Defense Forces Air Force suddenly a large-scale exercise, code-named "Rose of Galilee", was announced, during which combat operations on the northern border were practiced. The IDF press service reports that the Israeli Air Force attacked more than 24 alleged targets in 3 hours of the exercise.

Here it is necessary to conduct exercises to detect and intercept shock / reconnaissance UAVs against the background of massive missile attacks on Yamaha, Heil Avira bases, etc. Unfortunately, the war with Iran will take place remotely, so it will be possible to destroy relatively quickly only their proxies in the North and South, as well as the Persian infrastructure in the north. All this will alternate with strikes on Israeli civilians from Gaza, Lebanon, possibly Syria and Iran.
In these circumstances, two ground operations (Gaza and Lebanon) will be necessary, as well as the tension of the units under the command of the IDF Logistics Directorate.
