Special Forces of Argentina - the fight against terror in the rhythm of tango Argentina is a country that is distinguished by the fact that beautiful and passionate women live there, the government often changes, and by the fact that there are special forces units that are ready to fight the enemy at any moment and prevent a threat to the country's security.

Special forces in Argentina operate as part of the air force, land and naval forces, as well as the police. The overall task that is set for all these units is to respond quickly and effectively in the event of internal and external threats. Among these units there are airborne, air-assault, infantry, reconnaissance, air transport, communications and artillery companies, as well as units of light helicopters and commandos.

In the structure of the army, special forces are represented by a group of special operations, which was established in December 2005. It consists of commando companies (601 and 602) and 601 air assault regiment, which consists of two companies and Puma and UH-1H combat helicopters.

The 601 Commando Company, which was formed in 1982 on the basis of the special unit Halqon 8, consists of three sections. The same structure is inherent in the 602-th company, which was formed in the same 1982 year. A distinctive feature of the special forces, who serve in these two companies, are green berets with the symbols of their units.

Special purpose air forces are represented by the GOE special operations group, which is deployed in Moron. This unit was created in the 1947 year, and then it was known as the 13 th Parachute Regiment. The group was in command of the army, and in the first years of its existence, it was assigned a secondary role in operations. This state of affairs persisted until special forces in the country became the main perpetrators of special operations. Then the number of the regiment was slightly curtailed, and he received the name, under which there is to date. Special Forces teams at the moment are qualified parachutists who are able not only to perform jumps with the opening of the parachute at high altitudes, but also with a delay of disclosure to extremely low altitudes, and also have special skills for conducting raids and deep reconnaissance.

The entire period of development of the group was marked by support from the American special forces, the American Army School. Some Argentine special forces were also trained in American training centers.

A special small detachment was created in the structure of the group, the number of which does not exceed one hundred people. Its main task is to conduct operations to free the captured aircraft. GOE fighters are armed with G-33 rifles, German G-41 assault rifles equipped with NK-79 grenade launchers, as well as Remington 870 pump-action shotguns, NK-69 grenade launchers, MP-5SD6 submachine guns. If we talk about lung pain weapons, then the fighters of the group use submachine guns of caliber 9 mm MP5K, FAMAE SAF, MP5A1, as well as Browning pistols HK P9S and HI-POWER and Walter-RRK of a similar caliber.

As part of the national gendarmerie of Argentina there is a group of "Scorpio", which specializes in anti-terrorism activities. Peto unit is deployed in Evita. In addition to the task of fighting the terrorists and organized crime, the release of the hostages, the Scorpion fighters are also charged with providing security and escort for high-ranking officials during their movement through the state.

The Albatross group patrols the coastline, on lakes, rivers and other bodies of water. In essence, this is a division of the maritime police, because its fighters take part in conducting operations to apprehend the criminals and free hostages on the boats. The unit is quartered in Buenos Aires.

Naval special forces fleet represented by two groups - the tactical group of divers and the sabotage and amphibious group.

The diving unit is located in Mar del Plata at the naval base. The group consists of about a hundred people who serve in six platoons. Each member of the group is an expert in the field of underwater demining and mining, as well as being fluent in the skills of parachuting and combat navigation. A group of divers was formed in the 1952 year, and in the early years of its existence conducted operations from the ship Cabo San Bartolomeo. A little later, another similar group was formed, which was merged with the first in 1966. The group of divers is under the direct command of the Chief of Marine Operations. The training of subunits is carried out in the most extreme and difficult conditions in the area of deployment, and includes carrying out underwater explosions, mining, parachuting, and anti-terrorist operations.

Another group of special forces of the Navy - sabotage amphibious assault group - formed in Mar del Plata in 1952 year on the basis of the company of the protection of submarines. At the end of the 80s, the group was transferred to Puerto Belgrano. The first training course of the group was conducted in 1960 year and provided for reconnaissance in air, sea and amphibious operations. New teachings took place only 13 years later, in 1973. And it was then that the group was renamed the amphibious commando group.

Separately, it is necessary to say a few words about the Sokol special operations brigade. She appeared in 1978 year. Its creation was associated with ensuring the safety of fans during the world football championship. The modern group "Falcon" incorporates 75 fighters. All of them are divided into five groups, the number of each of which is 15 people. In each of these groups there is a commander who simultaneously performs the functions of a scout and a negotiator, 8 fighters, a sapper, two snipers, a medic and a communications man. Training of fighters takes place in two stages of three months each. At this time, they master the skills of parachuting, parachuting from helicopters, learning how to drive all types of transport, learning various methods of collecting information and sniping, and also conducting classes in shooting and engineering training. The brigade is under the direct control of the Buenos Aires Police Department. In addition to fulfilling their direct duties related to anti-terrorism activities, the Sokol fighters are charged with ensuring the protection of state officials. Armed unit fighters have HK G3 GS / 1, М16А2 assault rifles, NL MP5 submachine guns, М4 carbines, Franchi SPAS-12 rifles, as well as HK UMP pistols and Glock-X-guns and Glock-X-guns.

Another unit whose mission is to combat terrorists, and which is under the control of the state police of the country's Defense Ministry, is Seccion Fuerzas Especiales. This is a section of paratroopers, which in its tasks, equipment and capabilities resembles the corps of Italian carabinieri or the national gendarmerie of France. The unit’s area of responsibility is rural and territory deep in Argentina. The section was created in 1986. And it was her fighters who began the fight against Hezbollah’s militants on the borders with Bolivia and Paraguay, where the terrorists began to set up drug trafficking. Remoteness from civilization and the inaccessibility of the area gave the militants an excellent opportunity to go unpunished for a long time. But the situation changed dramatically after these territories became the responsibility zone of a highly mobile unit, where each fighter had excellent mountain training skills and possessed several military specialties.

The training of fighters of the special section is carried out in harsh conditions. Serious requirements are made for each candidate: he must not only serve in the armed forces for at least five years and be at least a sergeant, but also have excellent health. The physical preparation of candidates is tested during tests in swimming, a multi-kilometer march, overcoming an obstacle course, and possession of weapons. A check is also carried out on psychological parameters. Those who have successfully passed the tests are sent to a training course that lasts six months and is divided into two cycles of three months each. In addition to the usual training, the fighters master the skills of camouflage, making long-distance transitions for operations in the jungle, mountain training, as well as mine-blasting, parachuting, and possession of melee weapons.

In order to increase the speed of response, the personnel of this section must live at a distance of no more than two kilometers from the base of their Ezeiza. In addition, the fighters must be constantly in touch with the command of the state police with the help of pagers or cell phones.

The special services cannot be left without attention, because they are closely interconnected with the forces of special operations. This is, first of all, the SIDE State Intelligence Secretariat, whose main functions are to conduct intelligence and counterintelligence activities. A new stage in the development of the unit began in 2000, when the high command decided to reduce the staff of SIDE, which at that time amounted to three thousand people. Such a government decision is due to significant financial investments for the maintenance of the unit. In addition, according to the vice-president of Argentina, Carlos Alvarez, in most cases, the national special services took part in political operations, domestic espionage, but at the same time did not fulfill their direct duties to collect strategic information important for the country. And according to the president of the state Fernando de la Rua, one of the main tasks of the national special services should be the fight against drug trafficking, money laundering and tax evasion.
