Russia gave Kyrgyzstan modernized helicopters and radar
Russia donated to Kyrgyzstan a batch of weapons and equipment that has undergone modernization in Russia. At a ceremony held at the airport of Kant airbase, representatives of the Russian Ministry of Defense handed over to the Kyrgyz colleagues two Mi-8MT helicopters and two radars from the Republic’s Air Defense Forces. This is stated in the message of the Russian military department.
The Russian Ministry of Defense on Wednesday transferred to the Kyrgyz Ministry of Defense two Mi-8MT helicopters and two P-18-2 mobile ground-based radar stations from the republic’s Air Defense Forces. All equipment has been modernized at enterprises in Russia.
From the Russian side, the deputy head of the defense department Alexander Fomin took part in the ceremony. According to him, the equipment transferred by Russia is very much in demand in the armed forces of Kyrgyzstan.

Earlier it was reported that Russia in exchange for the rent for using the Kant base transferred to the Kyrgyz Defense Ministry two military camps with fully operational engineering infrastructure, which had previously been part of the Russian base.
The Kant air base was opened in Kyrgyzstan in October 2015 as an aviation component of the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces of the CSTO. At present, Russia has six foreign military bases, five of which are located on the territory of the former Soviet Union and one in foreign countries. According to the data provided by the RF Ministry of Defense, the 555 air force is deployed at the Khmeimim airbase in Syria, the 7-I military base is located in Abkhazia, the 4-I military base in South Ossetia, the 102-I military base in Armenia, 201- I base in Tajikistan, 999-I airbase in Kyrgyzstan.
