Taiwanese Armed Forces formally decommissioned UH-1H Iroquois multi-purpose helicopters (Bell UH-1H Iroquois). The solemn ceremony of the withdrawal of the last six helicopters of this type from the Air Force was held on October 30 of this year.
Taiwan’s Armed Forces deducted the last six UH-1H Iroquois helicopters, transferring their functions to the UH-60M Black Hawk fleet. The ceremony was held at a military base in Taichung at the 602nd Army aviation brigades. The decommissioned helicopters will be handed over to the country's air force and aviation academies for training purposes, and several units of the helicopters previously sent to the reserve will be sent to the armed forces of the African ally of Taiwan - the Kingdom of Esvatini (formerly Swaziland). Previously, 9 UH-1H helicopters were handed over to Paraguay, Honduras, Guatemala and Burkina Faso.
Bell UH-1 The Iroquois is an American multi-purpose helicopter manufactured by Bell Helicopter Textron, also known as the Huey. This is one of the most famous and massive cars in stories helicopter industry. In Taiwan, the helicopter was manufactured under the license of Bell Helicopter at the enterprise of the Taiwanese aircraft manufacturing company Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC) since March 1969. The country's first UH-1H was assembled in the 1970 year. In total, from 1970 to 1976, 118 helicopters were delivered to Taiwan’s Ground Forces.
Currently, the UH-60M Black Hawk is considered the main helicopter in Taiwan's Ground Forces. Under a contract from 2010, Taiwan received from the United States 60 new rotorcraft.
