This time the program “Polygon” of the channel “Т24” went to the Astrakhan region at the Ashuluk training ground. Here, on the basis of the 185-th Center for combat training and combat use of the Russian Aerospace Force, tactical exercises with live firing were held. The Polygon team observed the conduct of tactical exercises with live firing of one of the divisions armed with the S-300 and S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems, which arrived in the new position area and were ready to conduct combat training tasks. The S-300 family is the most famous air defense system in the world. They reliably protect heaven and earth from any aggressor. The S-300 air defense system was put into service as early as 1978 and was intended for the defense of large industrial and administrative facilities, as well as military bases from an aerospace attack of the enemy. The “three hundred” missile is capable of hitting an air target at distances from 5 to 200 km and destroying both ballistic and aerodynamic targets.
C-300 is similar to a large designer, which can be supplemented with auxiliary locators and machines, at the same time it is able to work autonomously and not depend on the regiment command post in the absence of the latter. Another important advantage of the C-300 over foreign counterparts is that it does not matter where the launchers of the system are directed: after the “vertical jump” the rocket itself understands which way to go. There is no chance to fool the "three hundred", even at the minimum height. The missiles have original combat gear: heavy shrapnel and high kinetic energy of the explosion are focused in a limited solid angle, which significantly increases the energy flux density of the shards and ensures complete destruction of the target. C-300 was the first air defense missile system, which, using multi-channel, could keep 6 targets at the crosshairs simultaneously and prepare 12 rockets for them - 2 rockets for each threat - for guaranteed neutralization.

To protect the long-range air defense system in the near zone of destruction, the Pantsir-C1 anti-aircraft missile system is used, which can simultaneously fire at 4 targets. It protects the complex from unmanned aerial vehicles, cruise missiles, and even from guided bombs. Two double-barreled anti-aircraft gun 30 millimeter caliber capable of releasing up to 5 thousands of shells per minute. To destroy more serious threats, the complex uses 12 guided missiles. The speed of the reaction of the Shell is impressive: from 4 to 6 seconds it spends on missteps of its actions and missile launches, while giving commands to anti-aircraft artillery weapons. "Pantsir-С1" can be placed on a wheeled or tracked chassis, stationary installation is also possible. The complex has a noise-free communication system.

Continuing their journey around the Ashuluk test range, the team of the TV channel T24 decided to see how the work is organized at the Fighting Aviation Combat Operations Center. The latter includes a squadron on the MiG-29 and the newest MiG-29SMT, there is also a helicopter unit. The Fighter Aviation Center helps the anti-missile forces to work out against air threats not on virtual models, but on real planes. Its main tasks remain to carry on combat duty for air defense in a single air defense system. During the exercises, the airfield operates around the clock: every day young pilots hone their skills, and some have already begun independent flights. The future aerial asss are taught by experienced instructors of the 185 training center of the VKS training center. The main task is to introduce into combat training the experience gained while performing special tasks in Syria, where pilots who have achieved a certain skill are sent.
