A pair of carrier-based attack aircraft Su-25UTG flew to Crimea at Saki airfield

To the Crimean airdrome Saki for training on the ground test training complex of the ship aviation (NITKA) a pair of combat training attack aircraft Su-25UTG arrived, the press service of the Southern Military District.
Su-25UTG attack aircraft are part of the 279th Separate Naval Fighter Aviation Regiment (279th OKIAP) of Northern Naval Aviation fleet. The aircraft made a flight from the Severomorsk-3 airfield to the Saki airfield to conduct training flights using the NITKA complex, the district’s press service noted.
The 279th OKIAP is the only regiment in the naval aviation of the Navy, which is armed with carrier-based aircraft Su-25UTG, MiG-29K and Su-33. The seat of the regiment’s aircraft is Severomorsk-3 airfield in the Murmansk region. Also, these aircraft are part of the Admiral Kuznetsov TAVKR air wing, which is currently under repair.
The NITKA naval aviation complex located in the Crimea completely repeats the takeoff deck of the Admiral Kuznetsov cruiser. It is equipped with a springboard and aerofinishes and allows deck pilots to work off take-off and landing on an aircraft carrier.
Sukhoi Su-25UTG (Т8-UTG) - a training aircraft based on the combat trainer Su-25UB. Designed for training and monitoring pilots at any time of the day and in any weather conditions. A feature of the aircraft is the ability to practice take-off and landing with take-off shortening devices (inclined ramp-springboard) and landing (aerofinisher). It is used by pilots of the deck Su-33 for training. It has no weapons.
Su-25UTG was produced in 1990-1991 in Ulan-Ude. Total released 12 aircraft.
