Indian 155-mm towed howitzer FH-77B "Dhanush" went into series

According to the publication, the company OFB received permission to manufacture XHUMX howitzers FH-114B "Dhanush" (Dhanush) 77 February 19, although story With the acquisition of these howitzers by the Indian army has been dragging on for more than a decade.

Indian governance armory OFB plants received the technology for the production of guns in the framework of the contract signed in 1987 with Bofors for the purchase of 410 units. 155-mm howitzers FH-77B with a barrel length of 39-calibers and the supply of ammunition for them. Due to a corruption scandal, the contract was postponed for 25 years. Production resumed only in 2012, when prototypes of the modernized 155-mm towed howitzer with an increased barrel length of 45 calibers were made.

In 2015, the Indian Ministry of Defense ordered the Dhanush 114 towed howitzers, which were to be delivered to the army within three years. However, the end of testing of the modified 155-mm towed howitzer FH-77B "Dkhanush" was announced only in the middle of June 2018 year.

Dhanush - self-propelled towed howitzer caliber 155 mm, able to move independently at a speed of 5 km / h. Extension of the barrel to 45 calibers and other improvements have increased the range of fire to 38 km (for Bofors FH-77 - 29 km). The howitzer is equipped with an automatic loader, allowing you to release 3 projectile in 15 seconds or 15 - in 3 minutes.

Earlier it was reported that the Indian army will begin to acquire howitzers in small batches. After the delivery of the first 6 howitzers, the army will purchase more 12, and if the operating experience in the troops is considered positive, then the Indian Army will buy all the 114 guns.

If we give towed guns of this level to our gunners, they too will begin to dance around them.

They have these umbrellas everywhere, especially a lot over the turrets of the tanks, and on the commander’s tank there’s an armchair on the turret and also with an umbrella.

        Maskirovka from spy satellites.
And in general - this is not an umbrella, but a camouflaged radar detector.

      India never had 152 guns.
Only 130 mm and 122 mm guns were purchased in the USSR.

Actually officially 8 km / h. It was for a Swedish gun. But they wrote that the Indian has a higher speed.

Let's count. In one minute, the gun can fire 6 shells (25 seconds), "fold" (also hydraulically) and move away from the firing one by about 70 meters. (35 seconds). Quite a normal option.

And yet, when they will extinguish the otvetku, 70 meters distance is not encouraging. Yes, plus potholes, ruts and the legendary Indian gouging.

And you compare it with the American self-propelled guns M109. They shot the same 6 shots and transferred the gun from the combat to the marching one to start moving, and the Swedish towed gun at that time was already 70 meters away.

Do not care. This is hydraulics. The gun has one of the standard modes - pull out your own stuck tractor 8)))))

Well yes. Some manage to turn tanks over ... At least on bends, even when loading. In peacetime. And here in battle, in time trouble, on adrenaline. Although if the kit includes a bag of high-quality smoke ( wink), then most likely - yes, on the drum ...

There was a video here recently how in Syria the crew of a tank that got hit was draping. It will be approximately the same.
