Kalashnikov Concern impressed American military expert Larry Vickers

13
Recently, a famous American specialist in firearms visited Russia. arms, veteran special forces "Delta" Larry Vickers. His visit was caused by the intention to write a book about the Kalashnikov, and also to photograph for this purpose samples of very rare, early versions of AK. According to Vickers, books about AK are very much in demand by readers around the world.

During the visit, the American weapon expert managed to visit the Kalashnikov concern and test the new AK-12 and AK-15 samples.

The American guest was impressed with the tests, a separate impression was made by the experts used in the production of technology. About what exactly tests and technologies in question, described in the video, which is presented below.

The video also describes what Vickers thinks about the AM-17 compact machine and the microwave in the 7,62 × 54 caliber. Does one of the most famous consultants in the global arms industry agree with the fact that Russian developments are capable of creating competition for foreign models?

A US military expert gave an interview to a technical consultant for Kalashnikov Media, describing his thoughts on small arms models.

No, well, L. Vickers said everything correctly about "you can't turn a weapon into a heavy club" - the golden words of a seasoned special forces sergeant who knows firsthand the real price of each gram of "armor" worn on him! good
But Larry’s admiration for the AK-12 and AK-15 frankly do not understand, is he really blind at all? winked Or, most likely, he is trying to cajole, with lavished compliments, the "host" and fool the favorite rare samples "as a gift" - why, the American "expert" just says so - "I want this in my collection ..." ?! smile
And what's the point in perfect CNC equipment, if, in fact, design developments from the middle of the last century are laid into the "machine tool", and the current Izhevsk gunsmiths are trying to "leave" them, only slightly "changing" and "modernizing" that Dragunov MA, originally from the Union of the 70s ?!
Interestingly, what, in this case, will the Izhevsk gunsmiths "rework" in another half a century ?! request

You need to understand their mentality a bit! Under the fantastic designation, anything can be hidden, but only at the analysis they say that there is a certain problem. They praise you for your efforts, but everything ends with a banal one: we will call you back!

"Russian developments are capable of competing with foreign models" in the arms market for a long time, "Kalashnikov" and Stone "shove their elbows." Previous designs of the Kalashnikov were inferior to the Americans in precision and elegance, but in their simplicity they surpass the Americans. I hope that modern designs also remain at the level of simplicity.
Regarding "Bison" or "Cedar" I can only judge from hearsay, I have not seen them "live", but there are so many people and opinions. In submachine guns "Hechler and Koch", if not a "trendsetter" then in recognized leaders. In my opinion, they have achieved perfection in the ratio: "price-quality and if our developers are trying to compete with the Germans, it means a lot

"Shaz" .. I'll jump on my favorite "skate" ..
With such a crazy ill-conceived mount for optics and attachments, I don’t know what is good about it. Neither 12 m nor 15 m .. The cover will loosen anyway and the sight will be knocked down after each shot, and even more so the turn. While everything is new and even in a closed shooting gallery to show off this one thing in front of foreigners, in fact everything is completely different. Why was the old dovetail sideways bad? But it was he and only he who allowed to fire from both open and optical sights. On the "night lights" it was installed regularly. For example, when running into a doorway with armor and other equipment, it is very easy to wrinkle or tear off the sight with a cover. And of course, in the confusion and confusion of battle, when everything is raining down on you with dust and crumbs of concrete, the sight lenses will always remain clean and suitable for shooting ... Caps? Yeah .. Ask the one who is aiming at you to wait until you remove the covers. I will give out "military secret" to the adepts of red pillboxes and colimators. I am silent even about the "direct shot" on the red dot. In fog and rain, the red dot "floats" and is blurred, and in this case, only the "elephant can get to this place". Yes, you can remove ... and use the mechanics. DOES EVERYONE RUN WITH SCREWDRIVERS AND KEYS? And yes, of course, everyone has a quick-release bracket. But here's the bad luck, the more quick-detachable it is, the faster it will loosen up. Effective managers do not understand this. Because they never held a weapon in their hands where it is really necessary. And use "very important findings of Larry Vickers" only for advertising purposes. I would like to ask what are we? Why are we worse than any Vickers who hardly have any sympathy for us. Why is our experience of hundreds of thousands of soldiers and officers, sergeants and warrant officers not taken into account? Oh yeah .. it takes into account the theory .. Well, look at the pictures and everything will become clear. It is sad to observe the stagnation of design ideas at the legendary plant.

Two years passed with Kalashnikov. For me personally, this is not just a weapon. This is a symbol of my homeland. And I don’t need another. (to me personally.) Specialists from the MTR, of course, need something more serious than a kid on appeal.

"They, in general, everything is just like that ... Except money!" - quote from Marilyn (Dasha) from Ph. "Brother 2"
It seems to me that it’s not really worth trusting the words of this expert.
    Practice and only practice!

And who is he so impressed by Larry Vickers that the concern is spreading in front of him with his products?

Good day, Andrey! To begin with, I would like to thank you very much for your articles, especially the Schmeiser series. Thanks to people like you, history and real facts are saved, not leaked through your fingers.
Now let me briefly answer the question about Larry Vickers, since actually I am his interlocutor in this video.
So, Vickers is a person whose opinion is listened to by the whole world. More than once or twice, we and ROE received official letters from serious foreign customers of military equipment with a very short text: "We want this machine, the number of xxxx" - and a screenshot from the video by Larry Vickers. I talk about what I saw with my own eyes. So working with him is, in my opinion, a very logical and balanced decision.

Vladimir, thank you for your answer, I understand very well that "his opinion is listened to" all over the world. But the fact that the customer will make a decision to purchase a particular model on the basis of his videos, I have a big doubt. The headline with the words "impressed" is the same red rag for me as "no analogues". Why can't we just call it "an interview (conversation) with a specialist." Finally, the content of the video is (most of it) pure PR. In fact, the publication of such a video on the VO page is free advertising. As a reader, I am more interested in the details of this or that design of this or that product, so that I can independently form my own opinion. But, where in Izhevsk can I hold a microwave in my hands, not even talking about taking it apart and shooting it? Why on the territory of the plant is held a competition of weapons skills, at which young people make masterpieces (I'm not afraid of this word) and no one is allowed to even look at them with one eye? Why on the Day of the Gunsmith at the local exhibition the concern offered for sale Chinese T-shirts and lighters with its symbols, and the only weapon that was presented at the entire exhibition was the M16 airsoft rifle presented by the patriotic club?
Is the concern's media policy built on the opinions of "experts" whom everyone should unconditionally trust?

This is a question for Topwar administrators. EVERY time I upload a video, admins delete it and write a post on the same day with the same video, a stupid name and its text (often with errors). Why they do this is unknown to me. I don’t feel sorry, but I don’t want to blush for the stupid names.

With pleasure I am ready to discuss these issues in person, I will try to be in Izhevsk in January.
