The main ally of the United States in the Persian Gulf will buy C-400?
If the negotiations are successful, Saudi Arabia will be the third country in the world to acquire the Russian C-400 complexes (at present, except for our country, only China and Turkey have such systems). However, the fact that the visit of the Saudi delegation will lead to the conclusion of a contract, and especially to the delivery on it, is far from a fact. In particular, India back in July 2018 approved C-400 acquisitions, but so far, for a number of reasons, it is not the happy owner of these complexes.
In general, when supplying C-400, the management of enterprises responsible for this export should think not only about the possible profit, but also about who should sell this, in fact, strategic weapon.
The fact that this is still happening is evidenced, in particular, by the unsuccessful attempt to purchase these air defense systems by a new army of post-Saddam Iraq, an army created by US efforts and under their control. Officially, the Iraqi delegation, which attempted to purchase C-400 at the beginning of this year, stated the need to protect Islamic shrines from air attacks from terrorists, as well as the desire to create a full-fledged air defense system to protect its airspace.
However, there are still no deliveries of one of the best air defense systems in the world to the country, which is actually under the control of the United States, so far there is no question. Perhaps the Americans (for whom a thorough knowledge of the technical stuffing of the C-400 is very likely a strategic factor of their geopolitics), not being able to get these complexes from China and Turkey, decided to simply send "Saudi merchants instead of Iraqis"?
