The Israeli company Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) has created a new pistol that could compete with the Austrian Glock. According to the portal armyrecognition.com, the MASADA pistol was presented at the Defense & Security 2017 exhibition in Bangkok.
Called MASADA in IWI, they plan to launch a series of firearms weapons, whose firstborn was a pistol caliber 9 × 19 mm. The new Israeli gun is made of fiberglass reinforced polymer, protected from high temperatures.
The key features of the MASADA pistol in IWI are low recoil and high safety. So, the model uses a fuse system on the trigger and (optional) on the handle. Soft descent requires effort 2,5 – 3 kg. In addition, the developers focus on easy disassembly, which does not require pressing the trigger.
MASADA is completely ambidextral (controls are duplicated and equally suitable for left-handers and right-handers). In the basic version of the gun is equipped with a removable whole and front sight with tritium inserts. The barrel length is 10 cm (1: 10 rifling pitch), full gun length - 18,9 cm, weapon weight (without magazine) - 650 g. The gun should be available in retail at the beginning of next year and will be available in four color options, reports "Warspot"
