The unique missile cruiser project 1080. Infographics

In the 1970-s, a very specific ship was developed, which in its TTX resembled the American design of an arsenal ship much later. The cruiser project 1080 was intended to strike at coastal targets. Its main weapons were to be ballistic missiles "Elbrus-M", the sea version of the Elbrus missiles, being developed to replace Temp-S missiles.

The layout of the ship promised to be very unusual. In the central part, between the two superstructures, there were located mine PU rockets in packages of 50 units, in total 200 units. "Elbrus-M" with a starting weight of 7,6 tons could hit targets at a distance of 1000 km. Self-defense equipment included the Dagger and the AK-726 artillery. In addition, the ship was based 2 helicopter. However, the development of the Elbrus rocket was eventually discontinued, which led to the cessation of the design of the 1080 cruiser.

Nobody forces you to come here and read similar articles. If claims have already gone, then the main ones, in my opinion, are the absence of minuses! ..

Well yes ?! You will drive it first. Two ISCs will drown her without departing from the pier. 1000 km is nothing.

wassat belay Well, there are calibrators without understanding the topic, but you have surpassed them ...... you have a materiel below the waterline, self-esteem is overestimated by 20 times, hence the conclusion - you need to read more and think more often and use less fingers and fingers Will the cruiser sink ??? Your capless ?? Before yelling about calibers - study the topic .... what is the range of onyx on the surface target, then you can already try to express a thought in the networks .....

I am not an expert in OTRK and the Navy, but either in open sources they write something incorrectly or the author has made mistakes. But the complex 9K72 "Elbrus" began to be developed in 1958, adopted for use in 1962. A complex 9K76 Temp-S began razarabatyvatsya in 1962, adopted 1965. So the statement about the development of the Elbrus complex to replace Temp-S is very doubtful.
And particularly noteworthy is the statement about stopping the development of the Elbrus rocket, and this, by the way, is the Scud B rocket known all over the world.

yes, it’s a pity they didn’t implement a good project, on the basis of TARK 1144 INSTEAD of 20 granites 200 anti-ship ballistic missiles, the power is enormous and, with current technologies, an invulnerable ship in general.
