BRDM-2 - Soviet armored reconnaissance and patrol vehicle. It is a further development of the BRDM-1. It was serially produced from 1963 to 1982 by the Gorky Automobile Plant and from 1982 to 1989 by the Arzamas Engineering Plant (as well as under license in Poland, Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia).

BRDM-2 has low security, armor protects against small arms weapons and splinters. The main feature of the car - a very high throughput. In addition to the main all-wheel drive chassis with adjustable tire pressure, in the middle part of the body there are special additional retractable wheels, allowing, in particular, to overcome significant moats and trenches.

This modification, shown in the picture, is devoid of additional, lowered wheels. Due to the appearance of side hatches. Additional wheels were removed due to the desire to simplify the design of the machine, with a slight decrease in rideability, or rather patency.
