Armored Car "Kozak-2" adopted by the APU
According to the blog bmpd, 21 March 2017, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Stepan Poltorak, signed Order No. 158 on adopting the Kozak-2 armored vehicle to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
For all the years of independence of the country "Kozak-2" is the first car of this classadopted by the army of Ukraine. The armored car was developed and mass-produced at a private enterprise - the Kiev NPO Praktika, which is part of the League of Defense Enterprises of Ukraine.
Specialized armored vehicle "Kozak-2" PSZA-5 (Panzeroviy Zakhist 5 Class Special Vehicles) is designed to transport personnel, weapons, military goods and property on all types of roads and terrain; conducting tactical operations, such as patrolling, escorting vehicles in the course of performing special tasks; order transfer and communication; fire support of personnel in combat, as well as to protect the crew and transported personnel from small-arms fire weapons 7,62 caliber mm, ammunition fragments and min.
“Kozak-2” from its predecessors is distinguished by more powerful and better protection caused by the experience of conducting combat operations in the Donbas. On the basis of it were made other improvements:

Kozak-2 is built on a modular basis on a frame basis with an additional reservation. Based on the Iveco Eurocargo 4x4 chassis, designed for 15 tons of gross weight. When booking a car, 12-mm bronestal of the Finnish brand is used, corresponding to the second level STANAG. An anti-splinter layer of special material is installed between the armor sheets, which also serves as thermal insulation.
The V-shaped bottom absorbs and dissipates some of the energy of the explosion. It works in combination with a multi-layered floor, which also absorbs some of the energy and at the same time retains the secondary fragments. The level of mine protection of the vehicle, confirmed by real explosions, is 6 kg of TNT equivalent under the wheel and under the bottom. The mine seats of NPO Praktika release independently based on international experience. They are suspended, attached to the ceiling.
Mounted filtering installation. Armament can be represented as a remotely controlled combat module, and the turret for the shooter. The turret fits any weaponry on request.
On the basis of Kozak-2, a family of vehicles is envisaged, in particular reconnaissance, staff, sanitary, mortar modifications. Depending on the option will vary the number of seats. One of the models, Kozak-001, was adopted by the National Guard by order of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine No. 718 from 27.07 2016. In the near future, the testing of the most advanced armored vehicles “Kozak-5”, having a carrying body and independent suspension, is expected. Its strengths were appreciated by representatives of the Special Operations Forces and High-Mobile Airborne Forces.
Bulk shipments are hampered by insignificant state defense orders for vehicles of this class. But even against this background, it is alleged that they managed to form around the "Practice" an armored car cluster of dozens of Ukrainian enterprises that supply these or other units and components.
