In Estonia, will create a cyber command and strengthen the "defensive power"
On Thursday, the head of the Estonian Defense Ministry, Margus Tsahkna, signed the “Program for the Development of the Defense Ministry's Competence in the 2018-2021 years,” reports Interfax-AVN.
The program includes "the development of maneuverable armor, cyber command, the purchase of small weapons, improving the management of air force and naval forces, the modernization of landfills ".
According to him, “in the budget for 2017, it is planned to allocate 40 million euros for the purchase of ammunition, and in 2018-2021 years more 166,5 million euros will be invested in ammunition”.
In addition, in the 2019, the 44 CV90 infantry fighting vehicles will be purchased for the reconnaissance battalion, and support armored personnel carriers will be purchased for the 2020. In 2021, self-propelled guns must enter Estonia.
It is also necessary to replace all small arms and purchase personal protective equipment.
According to the defense ministry’s press service, “a cyber command will be created on the basis of the rear battalion and the staff battalion, to which all cyber-defense structures subordinate to the Ministry of Defense will be subordinate.”
In addition to the Central Polygon, it is planned to create two more Klooga polygons and Nursipal.
The cost of supporting defense enterprises will be doubled.
