2011 results of the year in pictures: Air Force - part of 2
Let's continue the conversation about the results of the past 2011 year for the Russian Air Force. In addition to the production of new aircraft, last year the modernization of military aircraft was continued.
At present, there are three programs of “serial” modernization -
MiG-31 fighter-interceptors, Su-25 attack aircraft, and A-50 long-range radar detection aircraft.
Modernization
1. Fighter-interceptor MiG-31BM. The “Sokol” NAZ is being carried out (N. Novgorod)
Modernization is carried out under long-term contracts with the Ministry of Defense with 2006 year. The first pair of upgraded MiG-31BMs was transferred to a branch of the Lipetsk pulp and paper industry and PLS in the spring of 2008, and deliveries of the “serially upgraded” interceptor fighters to the air force units began in 2009.
Data on the number of upgraded in 2011, the MiG-31BM in open sources were not reported. We know about the possibility of upgrading fighters on the 514-th ARZ in the city of Rzhev, as well as continuing the work on the next stage of upgrading the MiG-31, which provides for further improvement of the weapon control system and adaptation of new weapons to the aircraft.
2. Su-25CM attack aircraft. Implemented 121 ARP (Cuba).
The Su-25 modernization program to the Su-25CM level began in 2006, just by the beginning of 2011 of the year, 121-s ARZ in Kubinka, Moscow Region, transferred the upgraded attack aircraft to the Air Force combat units. Data on the number of Su-40CM modernized in 2011 year in open sources are not available. It is known that last year the plant began upgrading the Su-25UBM Sparks.
3. Airborne early warning radar A-50U.

October 31 2011 year TANTK them. Gm Beriev handed over to the Russian Air Force the first mass-produced modernized A-50U long-range radar detection aircraft. The plane (b / n 47 "red") was received by the Air Force crew and made a flight from Taganrog to the place of its permanent base at the Ivanovo-North airfield.
As reported in the official press release, the main emphasis in modernization is placed on the transition to a new element base of the onboard radio engineering complex. Radically upgraded jobs of members of the tactical crew of the aircraft. Instead of the old hardware racks based on cathode ray tubes, the A-50U is equipped with universal means of displaying information based on displays with liquid-crystal indicators. On the plane installed a new communications complex. In addition, unlike the base aircraft, the A-50U has rest rooms for the crew, a buffet with household equipment and a toilet.

Repair
In addition to modernization, work continued in 2011 on the overhaul of the Air Force aircraft, carried out aviation repair factories (ARZ) and manufacturers.
